🏞️🏺 This Day in Andover History: June 9, 1978

On this day in 1978, Rabbit's Pond was added to the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Rabbit's Pond Archaeological District.

The designation recognized evidence of Native American occupation dating back thousands of years. Archaeological investigations around the pond uncovered artifacts from multiple periods, making it one of the most significant prehistoric sites identified in Andover.

The listing helped preserve an important chapter of local history that predates the town's founding by centuries.
