What is a common sight for you…
that you may be missing something
noteworthy about in your routine
day-to-day activities ❓
As I was sitting in my morning
“Thought-Spot” today,
I caught sight of what I thought
was a fish😳 on the water
in a wet spot on our field.
I did that common double take
to see is there was really a fish
big enough to see, on a hole where
a broken field tile has created a wet spot.
Upon further investigation
and a visit to the edge of the
water hole,
I found it was a duck
with white wings,
that was diving deep
and disappearing for
moments at a time,
searching for food.😜
Have you noticed that I began my description of the view, from our farm house, looking over a disappointing wet spot, created by a broken tile?
It’s not something a farmer would be excited about. It’s a nuisance and costly to correct.
Couple that with city neighbors to the north who have built retention mounds so that this water won’t drain from our land easily. They’ve blocked the original, normal flow of water because they want a pond.
Right here in this location, their pond may attract beautiful fowl such as these Diver Ducks I’m watching today.🤭 There are also protected swans who live here.
These ducks have these characteristics:
✔️Strong
✔️Live on fresh water
✔️Migratory
✔️Anatidae
✔️Stirred every hunter who’s known them
There is something beautiful and
unique floating on my wet hole.
Today, instead of feeling frustrated at a hole of water that I can’t easily drain, and costs thousands to correct, I will be thankful for the beauty of God’s nature.
I didn’t have to travel anywhere.
It’s right here in front of me.
