Congratulations to these Tigers and the rest of the team on a great season!

If you followed us throughout the season, you probably heard us brag on the defense many times. This list shows just how stout that Tiger defense was. All three linebackers named to the first team. Two defensive backs on first and second teams. Two of three defensive linemen on second team, and Alijah Lozano named “Lineman of the Year” for his performance on both the defensive and offensive lines.

We can’t forget about that air raid offense though! Three wide receivers on first team. First and second team offensive linemen. Second team running back and quarterback. Then Hunter Teichelman being named “Offensive Newcomer of the Year.”

We would like to congratulate the whole team and coaching staff on an outstanding season!

Each week we had a front row seat from our radio booth. We watched every single play. Did our best to describe every tackle, fumble, first down, sack, touchdown, and more. This was such a fun team to watch and bring all the action to life on your radio….

Thanks for the memories!!

🔴⚫️ GAME DAY!!! ⚫️🔴

The Tigers hit the road to take on the Spearman Lynx for the area championship tonight. This is the first ever meeting between these two schools. No surprise there considering Spearman is located pretty much at the top of the Texas Panhandle.

Hang on to your hats though. The teams will meet halfway and it might just be a barn burner on the south plains!

Here are the best wins of the week:

11-MAN

5: De Leon: The Bearcats had a battle on their hands in round one and had to get a stop on a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter to hold off Wolfe City. Survive and advance!
4: Cooper: What a comeback for the Cougars! Cooper looked ripe for a first-round upset, down 24-7 at the half against El Paso Chapin, but rallied in the second half to pull off the 42-35 win to move on.

3: Goldthwaite: Maybe the most exciting game of the first round was Goldthwaite/Maud. The Eagles won this thriller in five overtimes to move on to the area round for the second year in a row.

2: Merkel: The Badgers won their first playoff game since 2017 in dominant fashion over one-seed Odessa Compass.

1: Anson: The win of the week goes to the Tigers, who held Christian Villareall and the Ozona offense in check in a 35-14 win. Anson helps District 4-2A DI complete a clean bi-district sweep of District 3.

6-MAN

5: Newcastle: The Bobcats were expected to beat Petersburg, but did it in dominant fashion. Newcastle had the largest margin of victory, 73-0, of any six-man team in any six-man playoff bracket this week.

4: Benjamin: The Mustangs move to 9-0 with a 53-8 win over Aspermont, who was banged up but did enter the playoffs as a top-ten ranked team.

3: Bluff Dale: The Bobcats won just the third playoff game in program history, pulling away from Mount Calm in a 70-30 decision.

2: Three Way: The Braves won their first ever playoff game, taking down the defending state runner-up from Oakwood 40-28.

1: Robert Lee: The Steers beat district 7 champ Ira for the second time this season by the exact same score of 60-14.

***UPDATED***Region one area round matchups are set. Anson will take on Spearman at 7pm Friday night in Abernathy.

‼️IT’S GAME DAY‼️

The Tigers head west down Interstate-20 to meet up with the Ozona Lions for the bi-district championship in Big Spring.

This is the first meeting all time between the two schools in football. They did, however meet up earlier this year in the area round of the baseball playoffs. The Tigers swept the Lions in a best of three series that took place May 8th and 9th.
