I’m so excited that I’ll be one of the creatives at this year’s Vintage Soul Creative Retreat—and I’ll be kicking things off with a two-part project!

On Thursday evening, during our meet-and-greet, we’ll dive into creating all the moving parts for your project. Then on Friday morning, we’ll bring it all together to complete a truly special piece.

My project is all about exploring the magic of Gelli plates! I’ll be teaching you how to use them to create layered, one-of-a-kind designs. You’ll experiment with prints, textures, and patterns, and in the end, you’ll walk away with a totally unique project that shows off your creativity.

A little about me—I’m the owner and creative behind Sonnet’s Garden Blooms, where I design the Maker’s Box subscription, the Maker’s Creative Community, and the Maker’s Digital Press. I’m passionate about upcycling, vintage-inspired design, and teaching others how to bring their creative visions to life.

Today, meet Christina from The Turned Leg. Christina has built a community she lovingly calls her Junk Army—people with a passion for saving old things. She teaches how to salvage, repurpose, and create, transforming forgotten finds into pieces that bring beauty and meaning back into our homes. At her core, Christina believes in giving old things new life and helping others discover that same joy.

At the retreat, Christina will be guiding us through an inspiring, hands-on workshop using DIY Paint and waxes. This session will demystify wax finishes and spark ideas for how you can apply them to your own furniture and décor projects.

We are so excited to have Christina share her knowledge and creativity at the retreat—her teaching style, her passion for rescuing old things, and her heart for inspiring others will leave you energized and ready to try new techniques.

This outdated wood plate was rescued from the Goodwill Bins—the very last stop before the landfill. Instead of being tossed, it got a second chance at life.With the Maker’s Box rice paper and blended paint, I was able to seamlessly merge paper and paint so the design flows beautifully across the whole plate. What once looked forgotten now feels like a one-of-a-kind treasure. This paint-and-paper blending technique is something Tara taught me, and she’ll be teaching it in person at the Vintage Soul Creative Retreat. If you’ve ever wondered how to make rice paper fit any project, this is exactly the skill you’ll want to learn!

Creative Spotlight Week at the Vintage Soul Creative Retreat

All week long we’ll be featuring the incredible creatives who are part of this year’s Vintage Soul Creative Retreat—and guess what? There’s still time to grab your ticket! We only have a few spots left, and I would love to see those filled for this amazing, inspiring weekend together. 💛

Today, I’m so excited to introduce Tara Greiner, the heart and hands behind The Reclaimed Ranch. Tara transforms old and vintage items into refreshed, meaningful home décor. With her passion for refinishing furniture and her love of pairing vintage charm—like classic ironstone—with modern design, she inspires us all to see the beauty in what others might overlook.

At the retreat, Tara will be tackling a question so many of us have had: Have you ever fallen in love with a piece of rice paper, only to realize it doesn’t “fit” your project just right? Tara is a master at seamlessly blending paint and paper together, showing you how to integrate rice paper (or decoupage paper) into any project with ease. It’s a game-changing technique that opens up endless creative possibilities—and you’ll get to learn it directly from her.
