Auld Lang Syne Improvisation
Since I am teaching video call lessons my students and I can’t play duets together.
Sometimes I make a recording of the duet they are working on so they can hear what it sounds like with both parts and I encourage them to record one of the parts to play along with. This is one of those duets for my student Fiona.
When your student doesn’t pick up the video call then you figure out the pitch and sound on your keyboard that’s closest to the ringtone, right?
Today’s quick duet while working on recording some stuff for students.
It’s time to redo the hair. :-)
Apple makes checking in this missing students kinda fun.
Guess what show I was watching in between lessons today.
To Students: it’s not about getting it “right” each time. It’s about making music with what you have right now. Happy practicing!
I miss performing.
This is an exercise in performance. I know this duet but do not play it regularly. The exercise is to do just one take of each part and accept it where it is. It’s about responding in real time to the other me.

I tell my students that practice makes better.
I am practicing this app.
I hope to have some original stuff for you soon. 🙂
Testing, testing…
All sorts of fun musical things coming your way now that I’m figuring this technology out.
😂
Teaching from home has me writing the soundtrack for music teaching from home.
Who can name the song that this tiny excerpt is from?

Been meaning to set up a Patreon account for anyone who would like to follow my work and support it for extra special access but I keep getting distracted. For now I will share little tidbits just cuz. Here’s a chorus I am working on in between warming up on my trumpet for VENTO Winds rehearsal. #multitasking
Let’s play a game. Name this tune. (A student figured it out by ear.)
Just starting to really work on this song by Gurlitt Plus my student wanted to play you a bonus track at the end.
Playing a little piano with a 6yo student.
Holy moly I dig seeing former students do their thing.
My six-year-old student and I thought that this was a lovely song for a sunny day.
A little music for the first day of spring. Courtesy of myself and a student.
