"An excellent production with some wonderfully strong performers. The actor portraying Hamlet is outstanding." Audience Member

"Superior production; ranks right up there with the best of the Shakespeare Theater offerings." Audience Member

08/01/2009

"I am an avid theater goer and I have seen any number of Hamlet productions over the years. I expected little from a non-equity production. To my enormous surprise and pleasure, I was impressed by what I saw and felt, and what you were able to do with

"We loved the production. The actors had so much energy, especially John Bonner. We loved the staging. " Audience members K. Schmidt and J. Mangi

"No production of "Hamlet" can truly work without close attention being paid to the combat skills of the troupe. Here, in the small black box Theatre on the Run where no seat is more than four rows from the stage, it is even more important. Firebelly was

"Stephen Frost provides an almost cinematic musical score that, in keeping with Fernandez’s approach, sounds at times like the soundtrack of a Hollywood movie." The Connection

"The 400-year-old text often falls on modern ears as a bit of heavy going but the cast here does its job of first understanding the meaning of the measured verse and then communicating that meaning to modern audiences. Best at this in this cast are Steven

"Nick Ryckert’s blood red backlight as Claudius prays while Hamlet stands watch, dagger in hand, is a nice touch." C. Asmuth

"The chemistry between Rosecrantz (Jon Jon Johnson) and Guildenstern (Matthew Friedman) is fun to watch and provides some much-needed comic relief." C. Asmuth

08/01/2009

"Steven J. Hoochuk gives a quietly understated performance as Claudius. As Francisco, Charley Mann, who also plays Laertes, manages to deliver his lines clearly through a cigarette held tightly in his mouth. Other standouts include a bespectacled Horatio

08/01/2009

"Lead by a strong Hamlet (John Bonner) who nails his soliloquies, the entire talented cast embodies Fernandez’s maxim, "The cast must truly understand and not just recite a line. It has to be a part of them, their character." C. Asmuth

08/01/2009

"I get it. The Ghost is always watching!" an 8th grade student attending the performance.

08/01/2009

"Fernandez melds his love of film and theatre through silent black and white footage that gives homage to the idea that, in Claudius’ regime, opinions and voice are to be stifled. It is also an ironic counterpart to the fact that nothing and no one goes

"Bonner gives us a thrill ride as Hamlet ... Bonner's jewel of a performance." Michael Toscano

"Genevieve James is the most fun as a cousin whose main role in the piece may be to help deliver some of the history of the family so the audience can understand the events on stage, but her energy level elevates the character to a more interesting level.
