Adult Figure Skaters ✨ If your balance feels off on the ice, read this & comment “APP” to fix it!

Maybe your edges feel shaky, your landings aren’t controlled, or your ankles get tired halfway through a skate.

Usually, the missing piece is ankle strength. When they’re stronger, you can create cleaner edges, improve stability, and feel more confident on 1 foot.

Try these 4 off-ice exercises:
✨ Narrow Heel Squat
✨ Split Squat
✨ Single Leg Heel Raise
✨ Heel to Toe Rock

Adult Figure Skaters ✨Don’t make this mistake - spending countless hours on the ice but neglecting the off-ice work that builds strength, balance, and control.

If you have time to do 3 types of exercises, make them these:
✅ Single-leg balance work
✅ core & stability - deadbugs, bird dog, side planks
✅ compound movements - bridges, lunges, squats, deadlifts, step ups

These movements improve stability, power, edge control, and confidence on the ice. All can be modified for all levels. The best part? No gym needed! All home friendly.

My students often think they need more ice time to improve. More lessons. More seminars.

This is somewhat true. But what they really needed was a plan. Well-rounded skaters plan out their competition & testing season, goals, and training/off-ice days. They arrive ready and leave accomplished.

A friendly reminder from your adult figure skater coach friend 🥰

If you’re constantly starting over, it may not be a motivation problem. You may just need a plan. Someone to guide you step-by-step and a community to cheer you on.

Figure skating requires a combination of balance, stability, alignment, control, coordination, and power. Most generic fitness programs aren’t designed with this in mind.
