Lesson 16: Forward Glides

2 Foot Glide:

✓ Find middle of the blade

✓ Shoulders square

✓ Feet under the hips

✓ Goal: Glide your height

1 Foot Glide:

✓ Find toe to heel position at the wall

✓ Shift and lift

✓ Keep the shoulders and hips level

✓ Knees forward with closed hips and thighs close

✓ Goal: 3 second hold

Exercises:

Practice weight shift at the wall

Lesson 15: T Stop Quick Tips

✓ Upside down T position

✓ Back foot will angle towards outside edge

✓ 1 foot glide flat, place foot behind softly

✓ Bend both knees, bringing back foot to the skating heel

✓ More weight on the back foot

✓ Upper body square and forwards

✓ Tip: Find flat edge on the back foot first during a glide then progress to finding the outside edge

✓ For hockey: Great exercise to learn outside edge punches in the future!

Lesson 14: Master the Backwards Stop

Quick tips for your next skate:

✓ 2 foot glide backwards, balance on middle of blade

✓ Bend knees and ankles

✓ Shift slightly more weight to back foot

✓ Slide foot out with even pressure on an inside edge, turning the toes out

✓ Keep front knee bent and upper body square
