my son spilled a full can of bright yellow paint exploding inside an Uber somehow becomes MY financial responsibility and not the tiny human who actually did it. Sitting there minding my business when my kid decides to go full chaos mode and knock over the can like it’s a science experiment gone wrong. Paint everywhere, on the seat, dripping into the floor mat, even splattered like abstract art, and I’m just staring at it like… this is literally not even my hands involved.
Driver starts freaking out immediately, talking about cleaning fees, damages, “this is coming out of your account.” Excuse me?? Since when did I personally spill anything. My kid is the one who did it, so why is this suddenly my problem. I’m trying to explain that I didn’t touch the paint, I didn’t even bring it in, and he’s acting like I personally dumped it out for fun. The whole vibe is getting extra real fast, and now he’s lowkey acting like I planned this.
So instead of just accepting that accidents happen, he pulls over and says he’s reporting it and charging me anyway. At that point I told him go ahead, because I’m not paying for something I didn’t physically do. I literally grabbed my kid, left the door open with paint still dripping, and told him to take it up with Uber because I’m not about to fund his cleanup over something that wasn’t even me.
