Fresh blueberry and goat cheese panna cotta. We had an unbelievably delicious experience at Echelon Wine Bar last night. Everything was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. We joked that Chef Landon was the king of the sauce because every accompaniment to his dishes captured International flavors that we’ve only experienced in Spain and Greece. Every one of our tapas dishes were licked clean. We loved everything, but if we had to pick a few of our favorites, they were the Pulpo (we ended up ordering 2!), the lamb chops, the rock fish, and the merlot soaked cherries. The Pulpo oh my goodness. We may need to order again tonight. 😅😅

Pizza Pop Up in Purcellville

🍕 PIZZA POP UP! Meet Tarek Kipry: former Sous Chef at Westend Wine Bar Pub. He started a pizza pop up out of his Purcellville home. His pizza lineup varies each week, but we can assure you that you won’t be disappointed. This is a guy who will forage for ramps to put a creative twist on his pie. *Cost is donation based. Our family of 5 crushed two pies within 7 minutes of pulling out of his driveway so we recommend ordering up. Next pop up will be this weekend.

Our Story

JC Silvey, Jessie Peterson and Ken DuPuis are the creators behind Inside Loudoun. Each living and working in Loudoun County, they had a desire to bring a unique and fun perspective on Eats, Drinks, People and Places in Loudoun to the community.

JC runs the Real Estate firm Silvey Residential and focuses on representing both Buyers and Sellers in their real estate transactions. He is also a residential appraiser having completed over 3000 residential property valuations in Northern Virginia. A retired Navy pilot, and having spent 8 years on active duty flying combat missions over Somalia, Bosnia and Iraq, JC is now enjoying a quieter life in Loudoun. JC lives in Leesburg with his wife Vianne and 4 children.

Jessie is an avid freelance photographer, outdoor enthusiast, snow boardist, and a marketing and social media specialist. She has lived all over the East Coast and after 6 years as head of marketing for Baltimore Magazine, she is now happily settled here and loving life in Loudoun. Given that she is a consumate explorer, the opportunity to create for Inside Loudoun and to vigorously share her affection for this county was a no brainer. She lives in Leesburg with her husband Damon and their 3 children.

Ken heads up both Modern Filmworks and Digital Spoon right here in Loudoun, focusing on helping brands and businesses grow through video content and digital marketing. After spending the bulk of his filmmaking years in Los Angeles, and tired of the rat race called L.A., he picked up and moved to rural Virginia for a change of pace. He thought he would “try it out” for a year....that was 17 years ago. Ken has three grown children and currently resides in Purcellville. He loves the outdoors and spends as much time as possible on his boat on the Chesapeake Bay.

We, as humans, often strive to find that perfect place of comfort. A place where we feel warm and welcomed. Often this involves food and drink. We find a place and then, somehow, as we continue to return it changes and fades. Oh we might return again but it is not what one experienced that first time strolling into the door and taking a seat. Sometimes, as is the case here, circumstances causes a place to simply shutter and focus or larger matters. So it has been with Cocina on Market. I walked in the door more than a year and a half ago and fell in love. Yes, in love with the food, the décor, the management and the staff. In March they were left with a decision and chose to close until things got better again, Focusing on there other restaurants. I have driven by weekly checking for any signs of opening. I call every so often as well. Today Steve answered and I was overjoyed. I knew where I wanted to go for Fathers Day lunch. Amber and I showed up at the door and there Trevor was to great us. Smile on his face and genuinely happy to see us come by. Now remember, I mentioned one gets accustom to a place and then things change. The food isn't right. The service less than what it was and on and on. Happy days for all involved. The food was spectacular as always and the service was warm and friendly as ever. We were home again and it was a wonderful feeling. A few minutes about todays courses, We started with salsa and chips. Now you might think what could be special about salsa and chips. Let me tell you, Jason and his staff work with fresh, and where possible, local ingredients. Two salsa's are always served and they are never the same. Today was a tomatillo salsa and a chipotle salsa. The tomatillo salsa was cool and refreshing with a very slight heat. The chipotle salsa was very slightly elevated in heat and strong on a wonderful smoky flavor. Both were an excellent starter. Next we moved to the tacos. Amber ordered her favorite Fried Chicken Tacos and I ordered Carne Asada Tacos to start. I, of course, had to take a bite of the Fried Chicken Taco. Sweet corn salsa, Basil Green Chili Salsa and Crema elevate a perfectly cooked Fried Chicken strip. The flavors remind one of a summer picnic after church on a Sunday afternoon. Splendid bite of food. My Carne Asada Taco was wholesome bright and refreshing with the Chimichurri, Pickled Green Tomatoes and Queso Fresco. The spices and slight acidic quality of the pickled tomato made it a truly enjoyable bite. Although fat and happy at this point I had to try the Summer Mushroom Taco. Now I must remind you that this is a farm to table operation. I have had the mushroom taco in the Fall and Winter before. I had much expectation for this dish and I certainly was not disappointed. The mushrooms were cooked to perfection and I have to believe it is that coupled with the Mole Poblano that makes this dish mimic eating meat. Amber and I were finishing our drinks when Trevor came by with a plate of Churro's over a bed of Dark Chocolate Sause. Now, you should know that I am not a dessert eater. That said with the look on Amber's face I had to give it a try. Can you say pillows of goodness enhanced with bitter dark chocolate. WOW. So, this long winded rant is to celebrate my dear friends at Cocina on Market and their return to business. I am happy for them. I am happy for their wonderful staff. I am happy for Amber and myself. Selfish as that may be. Get out some afternoon or evening and try Cocina on Market if you have not tried it before. I am quite sure you will have the time of your life. You will be made welcome into their establishment and the food you choose will take you to places thousands of miles away. Peace, Richard Fleeman Leesburg, Virginia Strictly my thoughts and opinions.
