Benefits of Oily Skin

Oily skin is the skin type most of us wish we didn’t have. But did you know that oily skin may actually age better than the rest?

Thanks to the boost in natural oils and vitamin E, oily skin stays smooth and less wrinkled as it ages. The extra oil acts as a natural moisturizer that lubricates the skin and minimizes the effects of sun and air pollution.

To get your best skin, avoid stripping your skin of this precious, protective oil. Wash your face twice a day max and use formulas with salicylic acid, which gently unclogs pores.

Banish Dark Circles

1. Double up on pillows –Sleep in an elevated position to prevent blood from building up under the eyes and causing puffiness.
2. Frozen Spoons—Take a frozen metal spoon and press the back against your eye area. The coldness of the spoon will cause blood vessels to constrict, which will lessen the Dzbruiseddz effect.
3. Licorice extract—If hyperpigmentation is the reason for dark circles, try licorice extract. Place a few drops on a cotton ball then lightly dab over eye area everyday to brighten skin.

Supplements for Skin Care

Fermented Cod Liver Oil– for the Vitamins A, D and K, Omega-3s and Antioxidants, allwhich are great for the skin.

Gelatin – Which is a pre-cursor for collagen and has made my hair, skin and nails noticeably stronger and smoother (great for cellulite too).

Natural Bronzer/Blush

Simplest Homemade Option: Similar to above, natural bronzer and blush can be easily made with a base of arrowroot and by adding more cocoa powder and cinnamon to get a darker shade.try powdering dried beet root (in the dehydrator) or dried hibiscus flowers to add a pink tone which works well as long as you can very finely powder them. Store in a shaker make-up container or an old compact.

Boutique Homemade Option: For a slightly more customizable and longer lasting homemade option, use zinc oxide powder (non nano and uncoated) as a base and add cocoa powder and a red or pink hued mica powder to get the desired color.

Gradient Winged Eyeliner

The ombre trend meets the classic winged eyeliner to make for a fun, playful twist on an everyday look.

To recreate this look, pick 2 gradient shades that suit your eye color best. This look features shades of green, but you can work with blues, purples, oranges, any color really!

1. First apply a line of white eyeliner as you would apply a typical black winged eyeliner.
2. Moving 1/3 of the way out from the corner of the eye, apply the lightest color shade on top of the white line. For the light green segment, the model is using Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Freak.
3. For the final color transition, go over the wing and the end of the lighter shade with the darkest shade. Starting at the lash line, the model used Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Siren to build up the wing.
4. Lastly, soften up the color transitions using a smudger or eye shadow on a sponge applicator.
5. To finish the look, darken the inside of the lash line by using an angled brush to pack black gel or cream liner into the lashes. This will define the eyes and make the lashes appear fuller.

Summer Beauty Trend: Metallic Lids

Metallic lids are ultra cool for the summer. As seen on the runways of Versace and Chanel, this look is both sexy and edgy—marrying strong brows, dramatic eye shadow, and bold dark eyeliner. What do you think? Would you try metallic lids?

To get the look :
1. Start by filling in the brows with a soft pencil to frame your face and balance the dramatic lids.
2. Next, apply a primer to your eyelids and sweep an intense, metallic gold or silver eye shadow over the entire lid and along the lower lash line. For a more wearable look, apply the color only up to the creases.
3. Finish off the eyes with a jet black liquid liner and a few coats of volumizing mascara.
4. To let your bold lids pop, keep the rest of the face minimal with fresh skin and bare or nude lips.

Bright Makeup Tips

Don’t be intimidated by bright, bold colors. Vamp up your everyday look by accentuating one feature with a new, daring color.

Lips: Choose a matte long-wear shade that you won’t need to touch up constantly. Apply the color full on and perfectly line the edges or apply to the center of the lips and blend out to disburse the color and soften the edges.

Eyes: Use a bright liner to create a strong line along across upper lashes. For extra emphasis, use a black or dark brown liner to line your waterline.

Cheeks: A bright pink formula will make you look healthier and wide-awake in seconds. A cream formula is best for quick and natural application. Use a fluffy blush brush to apply the product to the center of the cheeks and blend out in circular motions.
