Joking aside, the amount of work the national guard is doing is remarkable. They've helped people AND animals survive. Without them, who knows where we'd be.

Crews are working 24/7 to get running water back to so many WNC residents. This is just Asheville. Surrounding area towns are suffering with the same issue and a much longer timeline before it's corrected. This is what's left of Jaime and Lisa Friedman's home. They were inside of it when a landslide broke through their home and pushed both their vehicles inside and into the kitchen. They lost everything. Unfortunately, their home insurance doesn't cover mudslides. So, they have to rebuild from scratch. Their daughter set up this GoFundMe for them.
