🚨 Ashland Police Department – Public Service Announcement 🚨

The Ashland Police Department wants to make residents aware of a dangerous social-media trend circulating on TikTok known as the “Door Kick Challenge.” This so-called “challenge” encourages individuals to pound on and kick residential doors in a manner that can sound like a home invasion. Based on recent information, we believe this type of behavior has occurred in our community.

We are asking residents to report this activity immediately if it happens to you. This behavior will not be tolerated in Ashland. Not only is it frightening and disruptive to residents, it creates a very real safety risk for everyone involved.

This trend is extremely dangerous. Individuals who believe someone is attempting to break into their home may react instinctively to protect themselves or their families, which could result in serious injury or worse. In addition, those responsible could face criminal charges for their actions.

We strongly encourage parents and guardians to speak with their children about this trend and the serious consequences it carries. This is not a harmless prank.

The Ashland Police Department appreciates the community’s assistance in helping keep our neighborhoods safe. If you experience or witness this activity, please contact the Ashland Police Department immediately.

🚨 SCAM ALERT – PHONE CALLS SPOOFING METROWEST MEDICAL CENTER 🚨

The Ashland Police Department is warning residents about an ongoing phone scam targeting Medicare beneficiaries. In several cases, the caller ID falsely appears as “MetroWest Medical Center” or another medical provider.

đźš« THIS IS A SCAM.

🧬 How the Scam Works

Scammers contact residents offering “free” genetic testing (such as cheek swabs) and claim it is covered by Medicare. Their goal is to steal personal information and fraudulently bill Medicare for thousands of dollars in unnecessary tests.

They may:
* Call unexpectedly or send test kits in the mail
* Spoof caller ID to look like a hospital or doctor’s office
* Claim testing can detect cancer, Alzheimer’s, or other diseases
* Ask for your **Medicare number, Social Security number, or personal details**

đźš© Red Flags to Watch For

* No involvement from your personal doctor
* Claims the test is “free” and covered by Medicare
* Tests ordered by a “tele-doc” you’ve never met
* Offers made over the phone, door-to-door, or at community events
* Pressure to act quickly

âś… What You Should Do

* Hang up immediately — do not provide any personal or Medicare information
* Verify by calling your doctor’s office directly using a known phone number
* Do not use or open unsolicited test kits
* Review your Medicare Summary Notices (MSNs) for unfamiliar charges such as “genetic,” “gene analysis,” or “molecular pathology”
* Report the scam:
* Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP)
* HHS Office of Inspector General
* 👉 ReportFraud.ftc.gov

📞 Reminder: Legitimate genetic testing is ordered by your doctor, not through unsolicited phone calls.

Please share this message with family members, neighbors, and especially seniors, who are frequently targeted.
