A Call for Touring Musicians on the West Coast in November
KSKQ will be doing a fundraiser in mid November, and we are planning to have a live event on Saturday, November 15. I'm still working on what venue - at the moment, we're hoping to have it take place at the Armory in Ashland. What we are looking for is a live ensemble that can help us create a buzz around town. The Director specifically asked for something that targets a younger demographic - anyone that knows Ashland probably understands already that many, if not all, of the local events tend to cater to an older crowd. This will really be a large operation, we have a volunteer already stepping forward to manage promotion for the event, outreach to underwriters, and things like that. This event will be promoted by all of our local DJs, and we will run a print campaign as well in the weeks prior.
The budget for the headliner should be somewhere ~ $1000, possibly more for a larger act. We will have live sound covered, as well as an event photographer, so the right band for this could really use it as a promo opportunity for their own West Coast tour, as well as a nice bump for their tour budget. Merch tables will be not just allowed, but encouraged. We might even be able to find a volunteer to manage it for you.
The main thing is the timing. The date is not particularly flexible. I'm just hoping there is an act that falls somewhere inside the electronic to folk-pop spectrum, with a solid live show, and a decent online presence that we can use to help create excitement about the event. Extra points for having actual fans in the Rogue valley.
Anyway, please spread the word. I really want to hit a home run with this so that I can continue to book live events in this town.
