Jeff Bridges, then 27 and fresh off Hearts of the West, starred as Jack Prescott, the shaggy-haired paleontologist who falls for Fay Wray’s spiritual successor, Dwan (Jessica Lange in her debut).
The watch on his wrist? A Rolex Submariner ref. 1680 with a single red line of text above the 6 o’clock marker—hence the cult nickname “Single Red Submariner” or SRS.
