In an effort to increase HBCU student participation in gymnastics, I've created the HBCU Gymnastics Team! This program will function as an at-large team that allows athletes to participate at the national championships in club level gymnastics for NGA, AAU, and NAIGC. I'm seeking members of the community who would like to serve on the team's volunteer advisory board - members who are 18+, have no legal restrictions working with children, and who want to further the sport of gymnastics. You do not have to be a former gymnast, an HBCU graduate, nor do you have to be Black to be on the advisory board. Just be passionate about gymnastics and helping students compete. If your college does not have a gymnastics center, most cities have private gyms that allow adult athletes to train. Call and ask for open gym or adult classes.

Some skits are based on truth. This happened to me when I was Christmas shopping last year. The lady at the store was doing stealth mode ninja tactics to follow me around. The store had mirrors on the walls, so I could see her following me and watching me. But when I'd turn around, she pretended to fold clothes. After about 20 minutes of this, I just went up to her and said "Instead of following me, you should offer to help me pick out something because it's obvious I'm looking for something." She said "what do you mean? I'm not following you." I pointed to mirrors and told her I've been watching her follow me around the whole time I've been in the store.

It's interesting that Pastor Bryant said that people didn't mention the good things that they do. When James Jones Gymnastics Academy had to move out of our location, New Birth was one of the first organizations to contact me to see if they could assist our team. They even offered to let us use their church's fitness center. Holiness is a wonderful attribute to have in churches, but we're in a time when the community needs tangible help and church members who are willing to provide for the community. Based on my experience I can say their church is very willing to help the community.
