November spending recap (scroll for details). This was our first full month doing expense tracking via , and it’s so much easier to view and pull a spending recap to share publicly. We spent $9,733 in November, some commentary on the month:

🏐Kids club volleyball fees made this our biggest expense category.

✈️We bought 5 tickets to Australia for next summer with the kiddos and used miles for 4 tickets and then purchased the 5th ticket for $1600. That plus fees is the second biggest expense for the month.

🌮 We spent 1.5 weeks in Portugal during November and so grocery bill was lower because of that and we track travel food separately.

👖👟Greg and I both did some clothing shopping in Portugal. We tend to shop more when we’re traveling. Its a good memory of that location, different countries have different shoe and clothing styles that are often unqiue vs what I can get in the US, and we have the time. All things we’re using and appreciating!

🍃Our lawn care is about $130 per month ($65 per service, every other week), but I was paying for Oct and Nov at once and 5 payments landed in that period.

…Then lots of other stuff. I do see some things we can curb back a bit on, mainly streaming services. I usually don’t keep too many on at once, but right now things are a bit off and we need to cleanup.

I love tracking my expenses. It just allows me to feel in control of what’s happening with my money and I am more mindful and intentional with my spending.

Oh, and we’re a blended family of 5 living in Atlanta, GA. And we’ve paid off our mortgage, otherwise that would be our most expensive expense category.

How does this compare to your expenses? I find it fascinating to hear what others are spending.

I feel VERY STRONGLY that all business/marketing/corporate resumes should only be 1 page long, and here are 6 reasons why. I did a quick story poll today, and it seems 61% of you agree with me. And though I feel strongly, I love hearing other people’s opinions on this topic, so let me know what you think about resumes in the comments 👇

Hello! 👋 - A quick intro post for some of you who may be new here, or maybe some fun new fact if you’ve been around a while. I’m so glad you’re here! I am Maggie, and some things about me…

🤗 I early retired after 20 years in Corporate America in 2022. I did it on the same day as my husband. I was 41; he was 43. We are slowly adjusting to our newfound freedom and haven’t once looked back.

🎤I co-host a podcast called that launched in 2023. Prior do that, I co-hosted the friends on FIRE podcast for 3 years and 200 episodes. You can check out both wherever you listen to podcasts.

👩‍❤️‍👨🧍‍♀️🧍‍♀️🧍‍♀️I am married to an awesome human being named Greg, and we have 3 kids. We’re both previously divorced and have a blended family of 3 girls (11,12, and 15).

💰I got to early-retirement thru living well below my means for a long time. I spent less than I made, and saved and invested the difference. We’ve paid of our mortgage and our annual cost of living ranges $80-100k per year.

🏃‍♀️My hobbies include running, talking about money, talking about how to save money, reading, traveling, pickleball, hiking/being outside, minimizing and organizing things, cooking sourdough bread, and much much more. I am super curious and love trying out new things.

✈️ We love to travel and also take our kids on cool trips. It’s a big intentional and priority spending area for us. I had never left the US until I was 28, but since then I’ve been busy. We’ve taken our 3 kids to 10+ countries, and we’ve been to another 10+ without them.

🌱I’m vegan, along with my husband. Though we will swing vegetarian when traveling outside the US and/or if it’s a baked good someone made me. Veganism inspired 8+ years ago by …And you can talk about meat or eat it in front of me, not at all bothered. You do you.

In this week’s episode, we get chatty with Liz from , the money kind of loaded. Sneak peek 👉Liz describes herself as someone who likes to drink wine, spend money, and max out her tax-advantaged accounts. She started with a very pretty financial spreadsheet and then created an Instagram account to connect with other personal finance nerds, and now she has over 13K followers, a podcast, and a blog. Ultimately she enjoys nerding out about money with smart people, so that’s what we had the pleasure to do with Liz.

I love this quote from The Minimalist Home 📖 by . I believe we could all use this reminder from time to time. Spend your money on things that make you happy and not to impress anyone else. Most of the people you will encounter are too focused on themselves to care deeply about you and what you’re wearing or what you own, and for those who do care… are those the friends you want? We also talk about this in more detail in episode 95 🎤 How to stop caring what people think and start living.

Cell phones can be expensive, but they don’t need to be! Tons of cell phone providers now offer high quality plans on the major networks at a fraction of the cost. If you’re paying more than $25, we think you’re paying too much! We cover this in more detail in recent episode 147 🎤
🔥
Maggie and her entire family recently switched to Visible. $25 a month on Visible includes a plan on Verizon’s network (they are owed by Verizon).
🔥
If you use Maggie’s referral link (in our profile, click on links) you’ll get your first month for only $5!! And after that each month will be $25 flat! You have to join “party pay” for that price, but it literally takes one click after you sign-up to do that (there are community parties anyone can join).
🔥
With that price comes:
✅Unlimited data talk and text
✅Unlimited mobile hotspot
✅Calling and texting to Canada and Mexico
✅No annual contract and no activation fee
✅Powered by Verizon
🔥
The only downside to this carrier and plan is they don’t offer international coverage, but for the average person in the US this plan gives them everything they need, and there are other options for when you’re traveling. We’re traveling for 6 weeks in Europe and it’s not an issue at all - I’m using wifi most of the time and an international SIM card powered hotspot when we’re on the go and need some data.
🔥
Check out the referral code in our profile for $5 for your first month! We ❤️ visible! And we ❤️ saving money!
