✨ Official Statement from Denise Williams ✨ Writer | Director | Producer – She Thinks She’s Cute Stage Play
It was recently brought to my attention that there are continued conversations and posts circulating regarding the recasting of She Thinks She’s Cute and a comment attributed to me stating that “everyone is replaceable.”
While I do believe that this statement is true and that no production can succeed without structure and accountability, this statement does not reflect the situation that took place, nor the heart behind the decisions that were made.
As I’ve shared before, I’ve often chosen to remain silent and “let the Lord defend His vision.” But today, I’m choosing to continue to do so as I speak for clarity—while still honoring the confidentiality of everyone involved.
In March 2024, during a live performance, some inappropriate and unscripted actions occurred on stage that were offensive to one of the cast members and to members of the audience. Following that, I received additional feedback and complaints from audience members who attended that performance, as well as from others who had been referred by those who attended the September 2023 debut.
After prayer, reflection, and counsel, I held two meetings: one with the individual accused of the inappropriate actions, and another with the entire cast and crew. In that meeting, I addressed the feedback received, expressed my concerns about professionalism and conduct, and explained that—given all that had taken place—the production would need to move forward with recasting.
Each cast member was offered the opportunity to return in an alternate role. Some accepted, and others chose not to.
I want to be clear: this decision was made with care, prayer, counsel and integrity. It was about preserving the vision, protecting the brand, and ensuring a safe, respectful environment for everyone involved.
As always, I will continue to honor the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) signed by all cast and crew members, including myself. I remain deeply grateful for every individual who has been part of this journey, and I will continue to trust God to defend and guide the vision He gave me.
