I've come to realize that we are born with at least one craft, gift and talent. Now we can surely have many however the gift of writing and having the focus of kind to be able to articulate your thoughts and feeling in verbal form is - definitely to me - a great craft.
I once read an interview that Ice Cube said he had with John Singleton, the writer and director of the iconic movie "Boyz n the Hood". Reportedly, Ice Cube was curious about how John Singleton could create a movie along with all the conplexities and money that comes along with that. The idea itself seemed large, perplexing and even somewhat intimidating (I'm assuming) however Ice Cube stated that John Singleton drew a comparison with Ice Cube saying that " hey, if you can write a rap, hook and lyrics for a song then surely you can write a movie script". Wow! That light popped on above Ice Cubes' head and as you can see he's done several movies since then. Yes, the art and craft of writing can indeed take you places. Cultivate your craft, now go write something.
