A lot of the AI conversation is still framed like this:
“What jobs will it replace?”
I think the more useful question is:
“What parts of the work just became cheap?”
That’s where this DOAC / Daniel Priestley interview got interesting.
In production, output is getting easier.
But better judgment isn’t.
You can speed up edits.
You can generate options.
You can automate pieces of the process.
But you still need someone who knows:
- what the story is
- what matters
- what feels honest
- what should make the final cut
That doesn’t make a craft less important.
If anything, it raises the value of the parts of the craft that were never mechanical to begin with.
That’s the shift I keep coming back to.
Not fear or hype, just a pretty major reset in where the real value sits.
