We’re still at a loss for words on thus one! Black Media has been hit extremely hard with the loss of Tanita Myers!

She was a staple, a workhorse, a connector and a champion for working tirelessly to ensure OUR STORIES were told and heard.

She leaves behind a legacy of droves of black men and women she opened doors for.

Rest well Tanita, and ”thank you” certainly isn’t enough, but it needs to be said anyway. 🙏🏽❤️

CARDI B
COVERING FUNERAL COSTS FOR VICTIMS
Of Deadly Blaze In Her Native Bronx

Cardi B is stepping up to help those rocked by tragedy in her native New York City, paying for the funeral and burial costs of those killed in a building fire that killed 17.

Cardi tells us, "I cannot begin to imagine the pain and anguish that the families of the victims are experiencing, but I hope that not having to worry about the costs associated with burying their loved ones will help as they move forward and heal."

As we reported, the fire ripped through a 120-unit tower in The Bronx on January 9 -- taking the lives of 17 people -- and sending many more to the hospital. Victims ranged in age from just 2 years old to 50.

We're told Cardi will cover both funeral and burial expenses and has teamed up with The Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City to make sure everyone is covered, and the wishes of their families are met.

Cardi says, "I send my prayers and condolences to everyone affected by this horrific tragedy."

Fire officials believe a broken space heater caused the blaze, but two interior doors that were left open allowed smoke to fill the building. Officials say those doors were supposed to have been closed, and are investigating why regulations weren't followed.

The Black Media Honors™ is celebrates an annual Awards season, building on the momentum African American and minority professionals have gained over countless years. We proudly cap this award season with our "Behind the Press" Consortium Pre-Awards signature event – the event is a day of panel discussion of an association of media, celebrities, minority-owned companies, organizations and industry executives and influencers with the objective of pooling their resources for achieving the common goal of changing and controlling the narrative of african americans and american minorities in media.

The Black Media Honors™ Gala – which brings together many of the nation’s most influential creatives, and aspiring communications students to celebrate the stellar work being produced across the nation. Additionally, at the evening’s end, there will be the Post-Honors VIP Reception.

Each year, the Awards Gala will recognize leaders who have successfully promoted the region through special events, best public relations campaigns; media personalities, journalists, organizations, initiatives, culture focused broadcast networks and programs who pay particular attention to societal issues and values; the local public relations industry; and exceptional college students majoring in public relations, media, mass communication, journalism etc.

Black Media Honors™ is thrilled to honor such an impressive group of media professionals. These individuals have impacted the development of robust communications between brands and their publics as well as bringing news to the community at large.

The honorees serve as an example of the great minority talent we have in the media industry and reflect public relations's core strength of helping people move their career & brands forward.

As black media or black focused and culture focused media many platforms tend to still not be considered mainstream. In order to cultivate the change in that perspective, we must also be sure to tighten up in how we represent our media brands and business operations.

PRESENTS: WOMEN LEADING CHANGE IN MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT

Giving women a voice & Leading by example! This is a (2) hour, game-changing leadership and movement-building panel brunch that supports women in redefining power and creating a new blueprint for the industry.

By elevating women’s voices in Media and Entertainment, the scope of change will go beyond the women in the room. It will shape the culture we wish to see. A more nuanced approach to women’s stories from diverse backgrounds will open the door to deeper understanding and a quickened pace to equality for all.

The WLC Brunch provides real-world tools, specific to industries, that transform the way women relate to power. From seasoned professionals to buzz-worthy newcomers, we know women benefit from sharing insight across the spectrum of experience. Shine the light on a woman and encourage her to take the lead in this initiative.

MEDIA MANCAVE (Men Only)
Everyone is facing a new normal, and now is the time when leadership excellence and economic empowerment are essential. At Media Mancave, Black men will have a platform to discuss how to pivot, empower, inspire and innovate.

The Color of Masculinity: How our cultural education of manhood both hinders and helps us; Mental Health & Self Care; Social Impact

THE FUTURE IS US: NAVIGATING AS A BLK CREATIVE
This Future Is Us (TFIU) is an opportunity to learn more about the strides to make our industry more representative and inclusive, and recognize Black leaders. It will also be an important opportunity to discuss critical issues of social justice and systemic racism that impact the communities PR pros serve daily.

During the event, attendees will garner a better understanding of how to improve their strategies, messaging and communication programming geared toward the Black community. This starts with including Black voices at the table, always, and ensuring that you have representation from Black employees and stakeholders to meet the demands of today's consumer. When faced with a lack of diversity in your organization, convene external experts to help with audience immersion, message testing and other core services.

MEDTech Summit (Media & Technology)
During MEDTech, will explore some of the media industry’s biggest technological and operational challenges, and the opportunities that lie within. Panelists discuss the technologies and trends that are shaping the evolutionary road ahead for media and entertainment businesses, investigate how this new technology has and can be used by content creators, particularly during the pandemic, what it means for traditional production practices and will explore the monetisation models content providers can adopt to take advantage of their digital presence and drive revenues. Additionally, attendees will learn more about those initiatives, including the importance of: education at an early age; mentoring; getting the message out that there is an industry behind the screen.
