Six months ago, I sat myself down and created a few goals: spend more time on the water, grow the youtube channel, see what more Georgia had to offer, add more species to my life list, etc.
Since then, I’ve crossed paths with 13 different species (the usuals in my area of course), including one I’d never caught before. I tried to keep count of how many I caught total, but that didn’t go as planned 😂 If I had to give y’all an honest estimate, i’d say it’s between 50-70…43 confirmed with photo evidence, and plenty sunfish and bass I didn’t take pics of. Some trips ended with fish, others not so much.
This year hasn’t been easy on the water. Drought conditions shrank creeks, heavy rains changed rivers overnight, and the Chattahoochee suffered a fish kill that reminded me how fragile these places really are.
Despite all of that, I knew there was still fish to be caught somewhere.
The fish are part of the story, but so are the foggy mornings, the flooded banks, the wildlife encounters, and the quiet moments between casts.
We’re only halfway through the year. There are still new waters to explore, new species to find, and plenty more memories waiting downstream.
