Yesterday, I learned the story of Ronald C. Fazio Sr., who was working on the 99th floor of the South Tower on September 11, 2001.

During the evacuation, Ron helped others find their way to safety and reportedly held a stairwell door open, delaying his own escape. When his family searched for him, they added a touching detail to his missing-person flyer: “If found, please feed Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.” Reese’s were his favorite.

I commented that I would share Reese’s with others in his memory and I followed through. It may have been a small gesture, but remembrance often lives in the small things: a favorite candy, a shared story, and an act of kindness done in someone’s name.

Twenty-five years later, Ron’s story continues to touch people who never had the privilege of knowing him. I made sure to tell his story as I was passing out Reese’s to anyone I came in contact with. A total of 4 bags of Reese’s.

These Reese’s were for you, Ron. May your name, your humanity, and your selflessness never be forgotten. Hold The Door For Others

September 11, 2001—a day we will never forget. 🇺🇸

Most of us remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when we first heard the news. I was living in Germany and starting my workday at a doctor’s office. We always listened to the radio, and that morning, it became our connection to the tragedy unfolding in America. We remained glued to every update, listening in shock and disbelief.

Years later, I visited the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York City. Standing in that place was surreal. The surroundings and views were beautiful, yet the weight of what happened there could be felt everywhere.

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families forever changed, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless acts of courage and compassion that followed.

May we continue to honor their lives, remember their stories, and never take another day for granted.

We will never forget. 🕯️🤍
