The Guild: Europa 1410 Demo Review – A Relaxing Yet Deep Medieval Experience
I recently streamed the demo for The Guild: Europa 1410 and came away genuinely impressed.
The demo is limited to 17 turns, though I only made it through 8 before my session ended. Players begin by selecting a city, but for demo purposes only one city is currently available.
The game includes a tutorial, but it is fairly light. In fact, it took me nearly five turns to realize that the worker assigned to my smithing business wasn't actually crafting anything. While this created a bit of confusion early on, I eventually discovered that much of the game's information can be found in the Archives section located in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Once I started digging into the available information, it became clear just how much depth the game offers. The primary goal is to build reputation within the community and climb the social ladder, but that's only scratching the surface. As your character progresses, you can enter politics, pass your enterprise on to a worthy heir, get married, engage in criminal activities, and build relationships that can significantly impact both your playthrough and your long-term success.
Visually, the game looks great. The UI is clean, responsive, and organized in a way that makes navigation straightforward and intuitive. Even during my limited time with the demo, I found simply exploring the city, clicking on buildings, and reading through the game's lore and information to be surprisingly relaxing.
My biggest suggestion for the final release would be the addition of a more structured tutorial campaign that walks new players through the game's core mechanics. However, players who enjoy figuring things out on their own and taking a "find out by doing" approach may not have any issues with the current design.
Overall, I had a great time with the demo. It offers a chill pace on the surface while hiding a surprising amount of depth underneath. Based on my experience so far, I'd give The Guild: Europa 1410 demo an 8.2/10 and look forward to seeing how the full release develops.
For those interested in seeing the gameplay firsthand, my full demo playthrough is available on SoloRelicYT.
