Checked my Ring footage tonight and honestly just felt sad afterward 😞

Someone came onto my porch, tore down my Pride flag, left behind a hateful message, and drove off before I even knew what happened.

Politics and opinions aside, going onto somebody’s property to damage things or intimidate them is not normal behavior.

People are allowed to disagree.
But there’s a huge difference between disagreement and making someone feel unsafe at their own home.

I already saved the footage and reported it because nobody should have to deal with that kind of hostility just for expressing themselves peacefully.

McDonald's is reportedly testing a $1 surcharge for drive-thru orders in key cities, seeking to encourage customers to dine in. The decision follows extended wait times and backed-up lines, shifting focus towards in-store experiences. Will this initiative successfully boost efficiency?

A woman standing near us smiled softly and said something I still can’t forget.

“If you’re choosing… don’t ignore the quieter one. The calm ones always get left behind.”

Inside the shelter room were two young Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppies curled together on a worn blanket, their small bodies pressed close as if they were sharing the same heartbeat.

One of them was more playful.

He bounced around the kennel, chasing toys, wagging his tail at every person who passed by. Even after everything he’d been through, his joy seemed impossible to contain.

The other was a Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy.

Quieter. Gentler. He sat close to his sibling, watching the world with soft eyes, only stepping forward when his brother did first.

The shelter worker told us they had been rescued together from an abandoned property, frightened and hungry, refusing to be separated even for a moment.

Ever since that day, they stayed together.

If one moved, the other followed.

If one became nervous, the other leaned closer.

And somehow… visitors kept choosing the more energetic puppy.

Someone even said,
“The playful one seems friendlier.”

The quieter puppy lowered his head and pressed himself gently against his brother, as if he already knew what it felt like to be overlooked.

The room grew silent.

I looked at my partner, and neither of us needed to say anything.

We already knew.

So we chose both.

The shelter worker smiled with relief and said,
“They only truly relax when they’re together. Thank you for keeping them that way.”

Now they sleep side by side every night, curled into one warm bundle of paws, ears, and gentle breathing.

The playful puppy still turns every day into an adventure.

And the quieter Staffordshire Bull Terrier stays close behind him, never far away.

Every night before falling asleep, he gently rests his head against his sibling, just to make sure he's still there.

Some people notice the loudest hearts first.

But sometimes...

the quietest one is carrying the deepest love. 🖤🐾

Ordered all of this, tipped $0, and still expected leave at the door? 😡

I’m honestly trying to understand how people place a huge order like this — cases of water, paper towels, detergent, groceries, bags, boxes, everything — and don’t tip anything. Not even a little “thank you” for the person doing all the lifting and carrying.

Drivers are not personal movers. We use our gas, our time, and our backs to get these orders delivered. If you order this much stuff and tip nothing, please don’t act shocked when it doesn’t get carried all the way like VIP service.

I dropped it where I could and kept it moving. Maybe next time tip like you actually appreciate the work.

Went to Walmart today and saw someone shopping in full pajama pants and slippers 😭
And honestly it made me wonder where the line is now with public spaces.

I’m not saying people need to dress fancy to buy groceries…
but stores really do feel like extensions of people’s living rooms lately 😭

Pajamas.
Slippers.
Messy hair.
Half asleep energy

Maybe I’m just getting old, but I still feel like there used to be at least a LITTLE effort before leaving the house 😂

I ordered Taco Bell on DoorDash, tipped $5, and when I opened the bag there was a note inside that said "5$? You go to hell!!" Like...what? Bro, you dropped off a chalupa and a crunch wrap supreme, not a kidney transplant.
Let's do the math. My order was about $10. I tipped half the total, 50%, for someone to drive less than 15 minutes and drop off a bag on my doorstep. That's more than fair. But apparently we've reached the point where $5 is considered offensive.
So tell me, what exactly are we tipping for now? These apps already charge a service fee, a delivery fee, tax, and an unexplained "processing fee". We're one step away from paying a "thank you" fee just for existing.
If $5 for a $10 dollar meal sends you into a rage, maybe delivery isn't the right job. I didn't realize I was supposed to cover your rent for handing me a taco.

I honestly don’t understand when grocery delivery became “drop everything at the door and vanish immediately” 😭🛒

I even messaged saying I was only a few minutes away.

But by the time I got home, the entire order was already sitting outside like it had been launched onto the porch from a moving vehicle 💀

Cases of water on wet concrete.
Eggs balanced in the weirdest possible spot.
Bags shoved up against the wall.
Frozen food already getting soft 😭

And sure, I understand drivers are busy.

But groceries are EXPENSIVE now.

If I’m paying delivery fees, service fees, markups, and tipping on top of everything, I feel like basic care with the order shouldn’t be some luxury add-on.

I’m not asking for white-glove service.

I’m asking for my eggs not to be placed like they’re part of a trust fall exercise.

To the person who decided to put a sticker on my vehicle because you didn't like how I was parked:

That's not really an appropriate way to handle the situation.

If you think someone parked poorly, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. But touching someone else's vehicle and placing things on it crosses a line.

Thankfully the sticker came off, but adhesives can damage paint, leave residue behind, and create problems that didn't need to exist in the first place.

There are plenty of ways to address parking concerns without physically interfering with someone else's property.

I've already reviewed the available security footage and reported the incident.

Honestly, I'm just surprised that some people still think this kind of behavior is acceptable.

If you have an issue with someone's parking, there are proper channels for that.

Putting stickers on their car shouldn't be one of them.

We brought Arlo home because the shelter said he didn’t have much time left. Two weeks later, he saved our lives.
The phone call came on an ordinary afternoon.
The woman from the shelter spoke softly — the kind of voice people use when hope is already running out.
“There’s an older dog here,” she said. “His name is Arlo. He doesn’t have much time.”
A Pit Bull.
Twelve years old… maybe older.
No family.
No one asking about him.
Severe arthritis. Old scars scattered across his body. Barely eating. Sleeping through most days like he had already started letting go.
They weren’t looking for someone to adopt him forever.
Just someone willing to make the ending gentle.
My wife and I looked at each other across the kitchen.
Our home had felt unbearably quiet for months — the kind of silence grief leaves behind.
And somehow, without saying much at all, we both knew.
“We’ll take him,” I said.
The shelter smelled like disinfectant and heartbreak.
When they brought Arlo out, he moved slowly… painfully.
You could tell he had once been powerful. Broad chest. Strong frame.
But age had caught up to him.
So had life.
His gray coat was patchy in places. His body carried scars nobody could explain. And his eyes… they looked tired in a way that felt deeper than exhaustion.
Not angry.
Not afraid.
Just tired.
When they opened the kennel door, he didn’t rush over.
Didn’t bark.
Didn’t wag.
He simply stood there and looked at us.
Quietly.
Carefully.
Like he was trying to decide whether trusting humans one more time was worth the risk.
His paperwork said almost nothing.
“Stray.”
“Senior.”
“Medical concerns.”
No story.
No history.
No explanation for how a dog like him ended up alone.
Just a final deadline.
The first week was hard.
Arlo barely moved.
We made him a bed beside the couch with soft blankets and orthopedic padding. Most days he simply rested there, lifting his head only when we brought him food or sat beside him.
Sometimes I caught him staring at us.
Like he couldn’t quite believe this place was real.
He wasn’t demanding.
Didn’t ask for much.
Just warmth.
Quiet.
And someone nearby.
By day ten, something shifted.
I heard slow footsteps behind me in the kitchen.
I turned around… and there he was.
Standing.
Stiff.
Wobbly.
Trying.
That moment felt strangely huge.
Because he was choosing us.
From then on, Arlo followed us everywhere.
Never fast.
Never far.
Just a few slow steps behind.
If I walked to the living room… Arlo came too.
If my wife folded laundry… there he was.
If one of us stepped outside, he waited by the door until we came back.
It was quiet loyalty.
The kind that doesn’t need attention to feel enormous.
Then came the night that changed everything.
Around 2:00 in the morning, I woke up to scratching.
Soft at first.
Then again.
Scratch.
Scratch.
Scratch.
I sat up, confused.
Arlo had never done that before.
Never asked for anything.
I opened the bedroom door.
He didn’t look at me.
Didn’t wag his tail.
He simply turned… and started walking.
Slowly.
Deliberately.
Down the hallway.
Toward the back of the house.
Something about it felt wrong.
Urgent.
I followed him.
When I opened the utility room door…
the smell hit instantly.
Gas.
Strong.
Sharp.
Overwhelming.
The heater had been leaking while we slept.
We called emergency services immediately.
Later, the technician looked us dead in the eyes and said something I still think about all the time.
“You got lucky.”
Then he paused.
“Honestly? Another hour or two, and this could’ve ended very differently.”
I looked down at Arlo sitting beside my feet while he said it.
This old dog.
This forgotten Pit Bull nobody wanted.
The one people had quietly given up on.
We brought him home because we thought we were saving him.
Turns out…
he was saving us too.
I reached down and rubbed his head.
He looked up at me and gave one slow wag of his tail.
Like he already knew.
That was months ago.
Arlo still walks slowly.
Still naps most of the day.
Still groans a little when he stands up.
But every morning, without fail… he’s there.
Waiting for us.
Sometimes he drops an old toy at my feet.
I throw it.
It never goes very far.
Neither does he.
But we play anyway.
Every single day.
Because when life gives you extra time with someone who almost didn’t get any at all…
you learn not to waste a single moment. ❤️🐾

Somebody please explain what the correct move is here because I genuinely do not know where to even start. We spent around $15,000 on this elevated deck and recently noticed the lower bracing and support posts splitting badly. Now several of the braces have completely failed and there’s broken wood scattered all over the hill underneath it. The deck itself is still standing somehow, but parts of it are sagging and the railing side looks uneven now. The original builder said “older treated lumber naturally twists and checks over time,” but this feels way beyond cosmetic wear to me. It honestly looks like the deck is balancing on stilts at this point. Would you try to reinforce and rebuild the support system, or is this one of those situations where the safest option is tearing everything out and starting over? Is this normal aging or a major structural failure?
