This month, we were asked to celebrate someone relevant to our content by decorating our classroom bulletin boards in their honor and sharing them with the entire school. Given that 97% of our students identify as Hispanic, we highlighted author and animator David Heredia, creator of Heroes of Color.

Our theme, Art & Animation: The Gateway to Literacy, honors his work and his mission to empower our youth to dare to be different, showing that learning to read can be fun and creative. Learn more about his inspiring journey and follow him on social media!

Thank you for finding me extraordinary enough to try and infiltrate my world. Just so you know what you are getting into to fill these shoes:

1. I find people like you lonely and without a life, so I have no use for you.

2. I don't investigate nonsense.

3. If you are trying to steal from me, you're just practicing. And if you do get some money, let me know how you got it.

4. Trying to slander my name or character? I own my nonsense and walk in my truth. If I said it, then I meant it.

5. Calling me names is comical because I know who I am. Plus, I've been called names that will make your hair curl.

So, if you want to extort or aggravate me, you will frustrate yourself.
