With the new year coming up, it's a great time to work on organizing some things in your business.

I've created a list of 3 things that you could start working on today to make your business run a lot smoother in 2019.

1. If you find keeping up with tasks and deadlines for the different projects you're working on, you may want to try out a project management system. Asana is one of my favorites. I like Asana because you can use the Kanban method or just a simple list.

2. One of the issues I've had in business is staying consistent with my content. Posting daily on social media is really important as a business owner. One way I have managed to make sure I am consistently putting out content is by batching. Batching content is when you create a lot at once for a certain period of time (i.e. I create my social media posts for the week on Sunday). You can try this with blog posts as well. If you put up a new blog post weekly, you can take a few hours on a less busy day & knock out all 4 for the month without having to worry about them anymore.

3. AUTOMATE! Last week I talked about automating your invoices, but there are also a lot of other areas of your business that can be automated as well. For instance, if you use a CRM, you can automate your entire workflow for onboarding your new clients or your sales funnels. I even have my social media posts set up to post automatically. You don't have to manually do everything in your business.

A lot of entrepreneurs have the misconception that their admin tasks are going to take up a huge part of their workday when that doesn't have to be the case.

One way to ensure that it won't take up much of your time is to automate some of these tasks.

Automation should already be your best friend as a business owner and automating your admin tasks is another way to give yourself more time to work on growing your business.

There are so many things you can automate!

1. Use an online scheduler like Acuity or Calendly. You can easily send your link to anyone who may need to schedule an appointment with you. Another added bonus is that these platforms make it very simple to add these appointments directly to your calendar with a click of a button.

2. Set up filters and rules for your email. If you receive a lot of the same emails, create a folder for them & create a rule for whenever those emails come in, they go directly to that folder.

3. If you bill the same people at the same time every month, look into a system that allows you to set up recurring automatic payments. I use a platform called AND CO for this. It's very easy to set up & I don't have to take time out of my already busy schedule to send invoices.

I've been reading a book called Organize Your Life and one of the first things the author suggests is to get a "master notebook". This master notebook is to go with you everywhere and you are to use it to collect those random thoughts you need to save for later or things you may need to get your kid for school tomorrow.

Ever since I've started using a master notebook and writing my thoughts down as soon as they come, I've been able to stay on top things a lot better.

When you're running a business, there are so many things to be done in one day sometimes keeping track of them all gets pretty difficult.

For me, not only do I run a business but I also have a family that includes a child with special needs who can have a lot of appointments sometimes. One thing I've found that helps me to keep track of everything the best is my planner.

I know some people think paper planners are so old school or that you could just use the calendar on your phone but writing things down and getting that visual tends to help me remember things a lot easier. I use my planner to plan out & schedule different activities into my day.

The one thing I make sure to schedule into every day (usually the beginning of the day) is my administrative tasks. Having the reminder in my planner as apart of my daily schedule keeps it in the front of my mind so these things don't get overlooked as I go through my day.

Whether a paper planner or digital calendar, I highly recommend using one of these to schedule time for the different things you need to tend to during the day including admin work.

One thing entrepreneurs never talk about is how difficult it can be to stay motivated. Things don’t always go as we plan and it’s hard to not let it affect you and stay consistent with your work.

This is something I have struggled so hard with since deciding to start my own business. It’s not always easy to sit down at your computer and create when you’re kinda bummed about not getting a client you just knew you were going to land or when you think that whatever you’re doing isn’t working and that’s why you’re not seeing the results you want.

As hard as it may get, you’ve gotta keep going. If you stop, then you won’t land that client you’re hoping to or reach the sales goal you’re hoping for. Happy Monday!
