The criminalization of marijuana in Georgia began in the 1930s - The Signal

The criminalization of marijuana in Georgia began in the 1930s.

Two hot tamale salesmen changed the course of narcotics laws in Georgia, prompting the criminalization of marijuana statewide. Despite the use of marijuana being legal, law enforcement sought to end its presence in the state.

In 1934, local law enforcement initiated the first marijuana raid in Georgia.

Week's spread designed by Oliva Madryzk is about how marijuana has become a medicine that elite athletes rely on for pain relief.

Athletes across all sports are finding benefits to marijuana: it relieves pain in their bodies and relaxes them on long, stressful nights.

Athletes understand the effects marijuana can have on their bodies, many of which are beneficial and could lead to longer careers.

NBA veterans admitted to using marijuana during the season and found that it helped better than any prescription they had before.

Abortion laws in Republican states are oppressive.

When countries restrict abortions, they are more likely to have higher rates of abortion.

Texas lawmakers continue to make pushes towards the criminalization of abortion, setting back reproductive rights.

There needs to be more access to abortion.

Kevin Hazrati, a senior psychology major at Georgia State, filed two appeals after being placed on academic exclusion in the fall 2020 semester. He explains his experience with the process and what he hopes the future will bring him.

Georgia State’s academic exclusion policy is the strictest level of educational discipline. Students on academic exclusion must appeal the exclusion, and with enough documentation, attempt to prove why Georgia State should allow them to re-enroll.

Students like Kevin Hazrati hope to return to Georgia State one day, but their academic career is in the university’s hands.

This week's spread piece by Julian Harden and Andrew Freedman is about how location, success and marketing all play pivotal roles in empty Georgia State stands.

Georgia State is continuing to update their facilities, and hopefully the renovations lead to more fans in attendance.

The Convocation Center and Hank Aaron Baseball Complex are just two of the exciting venues that the school has announced for the next few years.

From all perspectives, one thing is clear about Georgia State’s underwhelming attendance numbers: they need to continue to consistently win.

Voting for the democrats in this election is a vote for socialism. Ossoff & Warnock are very radical. If we elect these two to the senate our country will be in deep sh*t. Biden will push an agenda backed by the left. Biden is a puppet of the left and his presidency will prove that. People like Obama, Hillary, Warren and Sanders are pulling the strings. You will regret voting for these democrat senators. 10 years from now you will wonder why you ever did such a thing. Socialists cant flourish as long as people still have a means to support themselves, that's why Inslee and the other Democratic governors are killing small businesses in their states. Next they'll come after your only means to protect yourselves (second amendment) The only way tyrants prevail is when good men and women do nothing. I do not trust any of the democratic party politicians. They are crooks. Yes all politicians have skeletons and can be dishonest but I have never seen more dishonesty than I have with the current democrats. Biden is a trojan horse. The democrats want one party rule and the people fail to see how dangerous that is. It is the very thing our forefathers feared the most because they were far smarter and forward thinking than all the politicians today combined. Making Puerto Rico and Washington DC as states, packing the court, getting rid of the filibuster, granting illegals the right to vote. These are all devious attempts at one party rule and our forefathers would be rolling over in their grave. There is one way to keep us out of one party rule. Do not vote for the democrats in the senate runoff. Protect our country from 1-party rule. Even if we would elect a socialist into the Whitehouse it is far better than having a permanent system of 1-party rule if the socialist was elected fairly, I would be OK with that but we can not tolerate any attempt at permanent 1 party rule. Give the dems the senate and that is exactly what they will attempt to do. They have already said they would. Its not a secret and all of us will regret it if it does happen. This election proves how incredibly stupid the American people have become but it is not all your fault. You have had a media that has incredibly lied to you every day for years. Some of you who vote democrat still don’t think the democrats are leaning toward socialism. Some of you don’t even know what socialism or Marxism is. Most of you don’t realize how terrible 1 party rule is. You think it would be great if the country was permanently democrat. You don’t realize that such a move will lead to nothing but civil war and misery. After 20 years of the same party it will not be the party you started with. How many people do you know who like 1 party rule. Look at North Korea and Venezuela. Look at Cuba and Russia. All 1 party rule. They all have one thing in common “SOCIALISM”. Many of you are young and not only been sculpted by the media. You have been sculpted by university professors who live in a bubble and have no idea what the real working world is like or how it prospers. No one prospers in socialism. You become equal all right. Equally poor.
YOUR Reporters should be out getting VP Pence to answer questions about his heading OF the COVID19 TASKFORCE!!! WHATS HE DOING ABOUT IT???
Georgia please vote according to your conscience! Honesty, Wisdom, Emotional Health, Justice, Equality Demands That We Vote For Emotionally Super Qualified Leadership. Georgia please wake up: Trump's insanity must be a wake-up call to keep insanity away not only from the White House but also from the senate and congress. Georgia, the power to make America sane again & greater than ever before is in your hands. Please give the senate power to Biden-Harris by voting out Perdue & Loeffler & voting in Warnock and Ossoff.”— Sajid KhanATLANTA, GEORGIA, UNITED STATES, November 20, 2020,/EINPresswire.com/ -- When Trump announced that he is running for the presidency I did his presidential eligibility test. Trump failed the test. Being president of the US is an extremely serious business. Having the right to compete for the White House must demand above all very high emotional health standards. Every candidate running for the White House must be emotionally super healthy. All those who show even slight signs of being emotionally sick have to be banned from competing. An emotionally sick candidate who slips through must be removed from office as soon as there are signs of even slight emotional sickness. Trump's emotional sickness is on full display every single day. He is totally unfit for the White House. He has caused real damage all around. How long is America, especially the Republican leadership going to tolerate this insanity? For a very long time! As the Republican leadership is themselves almost as emotionally sick as Trump himself. In fact, they are worse than just emotionally sick, they are criminals as they are knowingly lying to cover Trump's insanity. Criminal behavior is emotionally challenged behavior that is generated by emotionally challenged brains. These Republican leader's own insanity is on full display. They too are unfit to be senators and congressmen. Republican America has a right to pursue their own agenda but they have no right to put emotionally challenged leaders like Perdue and Loeffler into the senate. It is immoral and should be illegal to vote insanity into the senate. Emotionally unfit candidates like Perdue and Loeffler must be voted out and emotionally well-qualified leaders Warnock and Ossoff must be voted in. Honesty, integrity, decency, wisdom, emotional health, justice, prosperity, equality, peace of mind, and above all conscientious behavior demands that we vote for emotionally super qualified leadership. I have a US patent on how to measure emotional health (EH) and as EH is wisdom, I have a presidential rating/wisdom test that goes as follows: 1) Premature self (-2). A macho self considers itself above the law, is disrespectful, totally self-centered, prejudiced, has all the attributes of ignorance, and is insane. 2) Immature self (-1). Corrupt, opportunistic, cunning, etc. 3) Mature self (+1). Obeys the law but considers himself as the best. 4) Super mature (+2). Selfless, humble, has all the attributes of wisdom/EH like compassion, love, equality, justice, etc. As you can see Trump comes out with a -2 rating, totally unfit for public service. His lapdogs are cunning opportunists who knowingly lie to cover up Trump's insanity. Having a -2 president with a -1 cabinet and -1 senators boils down to spending all this time, money, and effort to achieve -2 results for all America and at best -1 results. What else can you expect from -1 senators like Perdue and Loeffler? After all, -1 cannot ever equal +2! Georgia you can clearly see that Perdue and Loeffler have a leadership rating of -1. They are clearly unfit for the senate. Biden and Harris are not only wise/emotionally-super-healthy they are one of the best well-prepared teams for the White House. Please let's give them the power of the senate and not let's not handicap their agenda with a win for Perdue and Loeffler.
Jerry Kauffman POSTED Don’t know who this came from, but it’s bloody brilliant! (Reported to have come from Bill Svelmoe on FB.) If Democrats do attend the hearings, they should not focus on Barrett's views on any future cases. She'll just dodge those questions anyway. They're hypothetical. She should dodge them. Don't even mention her religion. Instead Democrats should focus on the past four years of the Trump administration. This has been the most corrupt administration in American history. No need for hypotheticals. The questions are all right there. “Judge Barrett, would you please explain the emoluments clause in the Constitution. [She does.] Judge Barrett, if a president were to refuse to divest himself of his properties and, in fact, continue to steer millions of dollars of tax payer money to his properties, would this violate the emoluments clause?” Then simply go down the list of specific cases in which Trump and his family of grifters have used the presidency to enrich themselves. Ask her repeatedly if this violates the emoluments clause. Include of course using the American ambassador to Britain to try to get the British Open golf tournament at a Trump property. “Judge Barrett, does this violate the emoluments clause?” Then turn to the Hatch Act. “Judge Barrett, would you please explain the Hatch Act to the American people. [She does.] Judge Barrett, did Kellyanne Conway violate the Hatch Act on these 60 occasions? [List them. Then after Barrett's response, and just fyi, the Office of the Special Council already convicted her, ask Barrett this.] When Kellyanne Conway, one of the president's top advisors openly mocked the Hatch Act after violating it over 60 times, should she have been removed from office?” Then turn to all the other violations of the Hatch Act during the Republican Convention. Get Barrett's opinion on those. Then turn to Congressional Oversight. “Judge Barrett, would you please explain to the American people the duties of Congress, according to the Constitution, to oversee the executive branch. [She does so.] Judge Barrett, when the Trump administration refuses time and again [list them] to respond to a subpoena from Congress, is this an obstruction of the constitutional duty of Congress for oversight? Is this an obstruction of justice?” Then turn to Trump's impeachment. Read the transcript of Trump's phone call. “Judge Barrett, would you describe this as a ‘perfect phone call’? Is there anything about this call that troubles you, as a judge, or as an American?” “Judge Barrett, would you please define for the American people the technical definition of collusion.” [She does.] Then go through all of the contacts between the Trump administration and Russians during the election and get her opinion on whether these amount to collusion. Doesn't matter how she answers. It gets Trump's perfidy back in front of Americans right before the election. Such questions could go on for days. Get her opinion on the evidence for election fraud. Go through all the Trump "laws" that have been thrown out by the courts. Ask her about the separation of children from their parents at the border. And on and on and on through the worst and most corrupt administration in our history. Don't forget to ask her opinion on the evidence presented by the 26 Trump accusers. “Judge Barrett, do you think this is enough evidence of sexual assault to bring the perpetrator before a court of law? Do you think a sitting president should be able to postpone such cases until after his term? Judge Barrett, let's listen again, shall we, to Trump's "Access Hollywood" tape. I don't have a question. I just want to hear it again. Or maybe, as a woman, how do you feel listening to this recording? Let's listen to it again, shall we. Take your time.” Taking this approach does a number of things: 1. Even if Barrett bobs and weaves and dodges all of this, it reminds Americans right before the election of just how awful this administration has been. 2. None of these questions are hypothetical. They are all real documented incidents. The vast majority are pretty obvious examples of breaking one law or the other. If Barrett refuses to answer honestly, she demonstrates that she is willing to simply be another Trump toady. Any claims to high moral Christian character are shown to be as empty as the claims made by the 80% of white evangelicals who continue to support Trump. 3. If she answers honestly, as I rather suspect she would, then Americans get to watch Trump and his lawless administration convicted by Trump's own chosen justice. Any of these outcomes would go much further toward delegitimizing the entire Republican project than if Democrats go down the typical road of asking hypothetical questions or trying to undermine her character. Use her supposed good character and keen legal mind against the administration that has nominated her. Let her either convict Trump or embarrass herself by trying to weasel out of convicting Trump. Either way, it'll be great television. This is brilliant, cut through all the superfluous rhetoric and get to the point. rb
