The GMAC crew attacked the park with 3 independent film crews documenting over a dozen activities that were featured in the park's BIOBLITZ. Celebrating 100 years of the National Park Service and Bandalier's 100th birthday, GMAC did its part by starting to create an interactive documentary about the park and its many features.

GMAC OFF TO NEW MEXICO TOMORROW TO SHOOT A BIOBLITZ AT BANDALIER NATIONAL MONUMENT!

The Georgia Media Arts Consortium has been invited by the National Park System, National Geographic and the National Geographic Alliances to begin shooting a documentary for the Bandalier National Monument. Using grant funds from the National Parks, GMAC and Georgia State film students will travel to New Mexico later this month to document a BIOBLITZ. A bioblitz is way of cataloguing an area of it flora and fauna. Bandalier was devastated by a fire a few years ago and we will talk with experts about the recovery of the monument as well as feature some of the interesting things about the park. The end product will be a 'story map' whose chapters will tell a complete narrative in an interactive and educational manner.

This is the first time GMAC has collaborated with the National Parks and National Geographic, but it not going to be the last. It is hoped that, with the 100th Birthday Celebration of the National Park System well underway, a series of documentaries can be produced by Georgia State film students that will be shown around the world through the vast network that is National Geographic.

We at the GMAC are so proud of the work that its students are doing and commend them in their efforts to be great filmmakers that make an impact on the world we live in.

Working with grants and private donations, Georgia Media Arts Consortium is dedicated to creating meaningful media for non-profits around the world and is involved in promoting organizations that benefit children, the arts and the overall well being of the world.
