Atlanta’s BEST Academy polo team made history at the 8th Annual Atlanta Polo Party, winning their very first official match 4–3 against Starr Creek Polo Club. They are now recognized as the first all-Black high school polo team to compete in the sport.
The six young players—Caleb Choice-Sanchez, Syncere Poole, Declan Fitzpatrick, Ryland Hammond, Mikel Banks, and Quinn Ramsey—earned the milestone victory during the 2025 Soul Symphony Weekend, defeating a seasoned team from Cu***ng, Georgia.
The opportunity was made possible by designer Miguel Wilson, who created the Ride to the Olympics Foundation to expand access for Black youth in polo. In collaboration with 100 Black Men of Atlanta and BEST Academy, the program helps remove financial barriers by providing lessons, horses, uniforms, and equipment. Wilson, who co-founded Morehouse College’s polo team in 2019, continues to build a pathway for more young Black athletes to enter the sport.
