Super nice review of our City Winery Atlanta show last week by Beat Atlanta Online Magazine...
Let me tell you about Hughes Taylor a musician that I can't get enough of. (Photo through the lens of Howard Rankin) Hughes hails from Macon, GA & was drawn to the blues from the very first time he picked up a guitar at the age of 13.
Hughes would practice for hours & soon began writing his own material. At age 14, he was recording demos from his family's basement, developing his life act & playing anywhere.
In the spring of 2016, Hughes released his first full-length album of originals, "Hear My Melody". Graduating with honors in marketing from University of North Georgia in Dahlonega in late 2017, he then released "Restless". In 2018, Hughes married the love of his life, Evie. They're a precious couple & both loaded with talent.
Summer of 2019, The Hughes Taylor Band released a blues album of classics that he arranged & interpreted, "Good Blues Fast". His band is a blues-rock power trio, reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix Experience, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble & Cream & influenced by Hughes' hometown heroes, the Allman Brothers.
In January 2020, they toured the United Kingdom, supporting the Heather Findlay Band. Although gaining popularity, The Hughes Taylor Band had to return stateside due to the pandemic. Fortunately, Hughes was able to record the last few shows to put together, "Live in the UK" in early 2021. With three studio albums & a live album under his belt, Hughes released his 4th studio album, "Modern Nostalgia". It showcases his growth as a musician, songwriter & producer. It was recorded at Capricorn in Macon & a sweet mix of blues, blues-rock & southern rock.
In January of this year, Hughes realized a dream when "Modern Nostalgia" was released on vinyl. All of his music is amazing. In another post, I will provide you with Hughes' tour schedule coming up.
