I’ve been walking this same river path for years,same 4 miles, same two companions (Coco & Maggie), same rhythm to start the day…
…and yet this morning, something I’ve never seen before.
A herd of deer, moving together, crossing the river right in front of me. Calm. Intentional. Completely undisturbed.
The wild part? I almost missed it.
I was in the middle of listening to The Diary of a CEO podcast—locked in, like we all are most days, until something told me to look up. I paused it… and there it was. A moment you can’t plan, can’t recreate, and definitely can’t scroll past.
I’ve spent a lifetime chasing great shots… but this one felt different. Not staged. Not planned. Just a reminder that the most powerful moments still happen when we’re present enough to notice them. I know a video can’t fully give you the feeling of standing there, hearing the water, watching something that pure unfold in real time… but I had to share it anyway.
Because it reminded me of something simple we all forget:
sometimes you’ve got to stop and smell the roses… or in this case, pause long enough to notice a herd of deer crossing a river.
With everything going on in the world, it’s easy to stay plugged in, heads down, always moving. But these quiet, unexpected moments? These are the ones that actually count.
When was the last time you paused long enough to notice something real?
