Fulton County is investing in the next generation of writers.

With a $25,000 county grant, “Write Now” is giving children ages 8-18 a free space to sharpen their writing, explore different forms of storytelling and learn from professional creatives. At the end of the two-month program, each participant will create a written work that will be published in a group anthology.

For program creator Tamika Jamison, the work is also about helping young people find their voices and giving them a safe space to express themselves.

“It’s now more important than ever that we start putting down our experiences.”

Protecting your peace is not selfish—it is necessary.

You cannot continue pouring into everyone else while ignoring the parts of you that need rest, care, and restoration. Saying no does not make you difficult. Setting boundaries does not make you cold. Choosing yourself does not mean you have stopped caring about others.

It means you are learning that your energy is valuable and your well-being deserves protection too.

This weekend, give yourself permission to slow down, step back from what feels draining, and reconnect with what brings you peace. You do not have to explain every boundary. You do not have to earn rest. And you do not have to keep giving people access to you when that access is costing you emotionally.

Your peace is your power. Protect it accordingly.

A Black family says their fourth-grade son was called the N-word at school—but somehow he ended up expelled.

His parents went to the school seeking answers and accountability. Instead, police were called, the family’s concerns were questioned, and the school later ended their son’s enrollment.

Several parents reportedly pushed for his reinstatement, while the family is now demanding an apology, an independent investigation, racial-bias training, and policy changes.

This is bigger than one school. Black children deserve to be protected, believed, and treated with dignity.
