Before iTunes 4.9, subscribing and listening to a podcast was a multi-step process, and most of those steps were so obscure as to be effective barriers for all but the most committed of listeners.

Influencers (i.e. the “Instagram-famous”) have long come under scrutiny for endorsing products and services in exchange for payment (or free goods) without informing followers it’s an ad. In the past, the FTC has gone after the companies paying for the ads — but never the influencers themselves. [The Hustle]

Last week, the FTC settled its first-ever case against individual social media influencers for failing to disclose they owned a company they were promoting.
