Friends, I have an announcement to make, one that consists of both good news and bad news.
I’ll start with the bad news:
Within the next few weeks, I will be bringing Macaroni Radio to an end. I’m at a point in my college career where I simply can’t do a 12-2 AM show anymore, especially as a MARTA rider. I’ve tried to make it work, but I’ve come to accept that there is no way for me to maintain a decent sleep schedule while doing this show. I haven’t decided an exact date for the last show, but it will almost certainly be within the next few shows.
The good news is that this is not the end of disco on Album 88. As soon as an 8-10 PM slot opens up, I will be debuting my new vinyl only dance show, the 88 garage. I am very excited to start hosting this show and have already started playing preview shows during our freeform slot at 7 PM on Saturdays.
Hosting Macaroni Radio has been a journey for me. When I first took over the show, I had very little knowledge of disco or even dance music in general. What I’ve learned since then has not only influenced my music taste, it has changed me as a human being, and for that Macaroni Radio will always have a special place in my heart.
I want to thank Missy for passing this show onto me along with her entire collection of disco, even though I lost it in a hard drive crash not long after starting the show(it was for the best), and I want to thank all of you who have listened and supported the show for so long. Y’all rule.
Anyways, that it’s for now. I’ll post the date of the final show once I’ve decided on it and spoken to our program director about it.
See you next week,
Sam
