Facebook’s Clubhouse rival looks a lot like Clubhouse right now – TechCrunch

Facebook is coming after Clubhouse.

Facebook is building a Clubhouse rival, The New York Times reported in February. But what that product will look like or how it will work have been questions that have remained unanswered. However, new screenshots of a Facebook audio product, still under development, show what appears to be a live ....

Happy International Women's Day.

I love the theme that @internationalwomensday_global chose for this year. #choosetochallenge. This spoke volumes to me, in the sense that women are constantly breaking down barriers that try to hinder us from getting our just due.

But what also stood out was the fact that sometimes the challenge or the wall that we need to break down is not in front of us, but inside of us. Most challenges are internal. You know the challenge in our minds that tells us:

“I'm not good enough”
“Someone is already doing the same thing”
“I'm not smart enough”
“She prettier or smarter than me”
“I'm not talented”
“I don't speak well”
“I'm too old”
Etc...

You know the lies we tell ourselves based on self-doubt or what we “assume” others are doing. Some of these scars came from our childhood, or what someone told us, or what society says, or what social media made us believe, about our self-worth.

Wherever those thoughts came from, see them as I do. “Lies”.

You are more than enough and you are far from dumb. People have tried to keep you down because they fear your potential. You are fearfully and wonderfully made and there is none like you. No not one☺️.

So instead of listening to the naysayers and spewing lies to yourself, speak life over yourself. Say things like:

“I am beautiful”
“There is none like me”
“She wishes she was me”
“I have all the knowledge I need to move forward”
“I believe in myself”
“Nothing or no one can take away what God birthed in me”
“I will succeed”
“I am more than a conqueror”

Yea, I think you are getting the hang of it. Speak life not lies about yourself, set your mind on things above and not beneath, and watch the windows of heaven open up and pour out blessings upon you that you won't have room enough to receive it all.🙋🏽‍♀️

The world needs what you have been gifted.

Let's #choosetochallenge the voices inside our heads and conqueror the world together.

I believe in you. Do you?🙋🏽‍♀️

Who's on #Clubhouse? Let’s connect.

Clubhouse is moving quickly today, but in some ways it feels like the journey started a long time ago. The two of us met back in 2011 through a mutual friend, and we connected over a shared love of social products. Back then, Rohan had been working on ways to help friends find each other in cities,....

Be selective in your responses

Did you know that research shows that social overload – where your friends frequently ask you for advice on things such as restaurants in a new city, prom dresses for their kids, birthday cake recipes (pretty much anything really) – is stressful.
*
Be selective about the posts you respond to. If a friend is posting 100 times a day you don’t have to respond to all or any of them.
*
Trust me, they won’t mind, because anyone who is doing that amount of posting is not keeping tabs on who is responding anyway.

Take your time and choose which post warrants a response, a like, an emoji, or a pass. It’s okay to say “Nothing”.

Do you think we surpassed that?

1. In 2020, there were 33.7 million small businesses in the United States, accounting for 99.9% of businesses.
2. 5.2 million small business owners in the U.S. identify as people of color.
3. 26.4% of Black Americans identify as entrepreneurs, the fastest-growing demographic of entrepreneurs in the U.S.

Great numbers right - but what about African American Women?

1. There are approximately 13 million women-owned businesses in the U.S
To put that number into perspective, 13 million women-owned businesses come out to equal roughly 42% of all firms across the United States.

2. Women-of-color account for nearly 90% of the new women-owned businesses annually
Yes, every year, 90% of new women-owned businesses are started by women-of-color. As if that’s not impressive enough on its own, consider the following: only 39% of the U.S. population is composed of women-of-color!

3. Out of all women-owned firms, roughly 21% are owned by African Americans
Following non-minority women-owned businesses, African American women-owned businesses make up the second-largest number of firms in the United States. This should make you pause, but for good reason! African American women comprise approximately 13.7% of all women in the U.S. – so they’re actually overrepresented among all women-owned businesses.

(But here is where the cookie start to crumble)
4. Average revenue for African American women-owned businesses is less than 20% the average revenue for all women-owned businesses
Here’s where you should take another pause, and this time for a bit more concerning matter. Of all minority women-owned businesses, African American women-owned businesses show the greatest difference in revenue when compared with all women-owned firms ($24,000 vs. $142,900).

In other words, the average revenue of African American women-owned businesses is lower than that of all other minority groups, including Latinas/Hispanics, Asian Americans, Native Americans, and Native Hawaiians.

Changing that ‘women in business’ statistic will take lots of effort, but should remain a priority in the fight for equality.

If you are ready to get that number higher, Type I am.
