Posted • • Love Is Hard, the new record by Steve Baskin and the Fourteens is out in the world!
Making a record is a years-long project for me and for most artists. Thinking of something to write, writing songs, working the songs out. Recording the songs, mixing the songs, mastering the songs, making CDs, making vinyl.
Then there’s the marketing – shooting world-class photography, getting world-class designers to make it all beautiful. Thinking up, shooting and editing videos. Then finding talented folks who’ll try to get magazines and streaming services to pay attention to it.
Over the past several years, I’ve been surrounded and blessed by a dream band full of the most talented musicians I’ve known (The Fourteens); the best co-producer; a stunningly talented photographer; an agency full of talented folks who are happy to jump into the fray; as well as dear friends helping with the marketing and supporting me in so many ways.
These folks have prioritized my music to humbling degrees to help me make a record that I’m so very proud of. Magazines around the world are saying really nice things. And the crowd at Wednesday’s record release show – mostly friends and loved ones – made it one of my favorite nights ever.
