A Boko Haram attack in Korsamba, in Cameroon’s Far North Region, has claimed the life of a young teacher trainee.

The attack occurred on Saturday, June 27.

The victim has been identified as Taki Hamidou, a student teacher who had returned to his native village for the holidays.

He was killed during the attack, leaving residents in shock and grief.

His death has renewed concerns over the persistent threat posed by Boko Haram to communities in the Far North Region, where civilians continue to live under the fear of sudden raids, killings and displacement.

For years, communities in Cameroon’s Far North have suffered repeated attacks linked to Boko Haram and other armed groups operating around the Lake Chad basin.

The latest killing is another painful reminder that many villages remain vulnerable despite years of military operations against the insurgents.
