Meet Matt Pye, our Creative Director of Animation and art-house cinephile. 🎬

Growing up in a humid suburb of Jacksonville, Florida, Matt had a simple, happy childhood. The St. Johns River — the longest in Florida — was an inspiring getaway with its grand dock and abundant opportunities for crab fishing. Besides the usual Sunshine State fun activities, Matt’s family went to the cinema twice a week. One of the first movies he saw was “Aladdin”. The masterful animations blew his six-year-old mind. He was hooked for life. As he got older, he fell in love with all things art, so his parents found ways to feed his passion.

A few years later, music took over and right out of high school, Matt became a mix engineering intern in a local recording studio. That’s how Matt got his foot in the film-making door. At the same time, the pressure to go to college led him to start a degree in psychology. Soon enough, though, he found himself where he belonged – in an art institute, studying animations.

From there, things sped up. In 2011, Matt won the Independent Auteur prize for his live-action short film, “In a Field of Weeds.” It was an artistic film – a little crazy but intriguing enough to get a television interview in the Hometown Heroes segment. A local video agency offered Matt a job, which he immediately accepted. It was a learning experience on steroids: an opportunity to learn all the basics of production and industry standards.

In 2014, Matt moved to Atlanta – the booming Hollywood of The South – and started his own production company, Unicursal Pictures. In 2021, his long-cooked movie “concrete_savanna” was finally released. The film got international distribution, bringing a ton of new freelancing work.

And that’s how Lyda Fire and Matt found one another in May 2022. Matt’s next goal is to guide Lyda Fire’s 3D animation to new heights. A creative at heart, Matt lives and breathes animation. He spends every free moment outside the art world with his beautiful wife Sabra and their 8-year-old son Auden, exploring the woods or watching “Aladdin” together. Just like the good old days.

Meet Kaitlin-Megan Rivera, our west coast Project Manager and influential TikTok dancer. 💃

Born and raised in Los Angeles, a natural fascination for Hollywood was engrained in Kaitlin-Megan. As a kid, she was lucky enough to get background gigs in movies and TV shows – and was hooked for life. Despite the strong influence of American culture, Kaitlin-Megan never lost a connection with her Filipino roots, cherishing the values her parents instilled.

With broad interests and an open mind, Kaitlin-Megan double-majored in Communications & Sociology, earning her degree from Santa Barbara University in 2018. Besides the abundance of new knowledge, Kaitlin-Megan learned two things about herself. First, one day she’d want to live by the beach again (yes, a dorm room with an ocean view is possible!). Second, life’s meant to be explored (a study abroad summer in Seoul proved just that).

After graduating, Kaitlin-Megan took on a coordinator role in a PR agency. From managing client accounts to planning red carpet events, Kaitlin-Megan found herself dissatisfied with the late nights, so she made a move to an emergency department of a healthcare company as an executive assistant. It was in this role that she caught on to project management, which quickly became one of her strengths. The one thing she missed was working in a creative environment, and Lyda Fire was the perfect fit.

Outside of keeping clients happy, Kaitlin-Megan cheers her followers on TikTok and Instagram with k-pop dancing videos. A hobby that took off from pandemic boredom has now become Kaitlin-Megan’s biggest passion and others notice it, too – one of her TikTok videos received 1.5 million views! If not practicing a new choreography, you can find Kaitlin-Megan in music festivals where she – you guessed it – dances the night away.

Meet Maria Reichstadt, our Creative Director of Design and resident dark-wave popstar. 🎸

Growing up in the Chicagoland area, Maria was competitive in many sports, but found great success in cheerleading and gymnastics — until a catastrophic arm injury took her off the mat, and landed her into the world of art and music.

When Maria was just 16 years old, she entered the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). While studying the visual arts, she mastered figure drawing and millinery — the art of making ladies’ hats.

After graduating with a BFA, Maria worked in law firms as an executive assistant and paralegal. She met incredible people, but couldn’t resist her true calling.

In 2017, Maria devised a five-year-plan to change careers and returned to SAIC to study graphic design. Her pivot proved valuable, as she landed at MillerKnoll, the office furniture design legend. In 2022, Maria graced Lyda Fire with her consistent optimism and sophisticated graphics that stir emotion.

In her spare time, Maria writes and performs music for The Nancy Downs, her dark-wave pop band. Maria’s neighbors allege that you can hear thumping bass lines from the street outside her northern Illinois apartment, where she lives with two freakishly cute cats, Teddy and Sophie.

Meet Amelia Tõnurist, our Digital Marketing Manager and intrepid world traveler. 🌎

Amelia grew up in Estonia among a family of writers and artists and has always had a passion for writing and languages. This led her to study linguistics at Tartu University, which kicked off her early career in journalism.

After having written articles about politics and disease — and interviewing Estonia's biggest celebrities — Amelia left her homeland to explore the world. She journeyed through Cyprus and Canada, recording her adventures in a travel blog she still maintains today.

Soon Amelia found herself back in Estonia to take on a new challenge: a job opportunity in the international communications and marketing field. In this role, she advertised Tallinn University’s international programs across Europe and generated leads.

In 2018, Amelia followed her dream across the Atlantic and earned her degree abroad. She graduated from Mercer University in Atlanta with a Master's in Business Administration & Marketing. In 2021, Amelia joined forces with Lyda Fire and she's been helping lead the agency's rebranding initiatives.

In her spare time, Amelia loves exploring other countries and cultures with her husband, Jonathon. If they're not hiking or adventuring, you'll find Amelia and Jonathon salsa dancing or running in the woods — enjoying all of life's little moments.

Meet Joanna Wilford, our Director of Project Operations.

Growing up in the northeast, Joanna developed a love of winter sports, particularly figure skating. And while she never made it to the Olympics, she continues to love skating and snow, even now that she’s made home in Georgia, the Peach State.

Joanna got her first Master’s degree in Geology with an interest in historic preservation and worked as a microscopist, examining building materials. Being part of a large team and working with a range of personalities helped Joanna realize her skills and strengths managing projects and she saw an opportunity for change.

A new path emerged, one where Joanna could put her people skills to work, so she switched her focus to a facilitation-oriented career in project management. With a deep interest in creating agile cross-functional teams, combined with her personal passion for tech and the software development process, she pursued a second Master’s in Business & Technology.

Today, Joanna supports her Lyda Fire team in creating powerful, strategic visual communications, ensuring all pieces of a project come together on time and within scope. Her weekends are well spent with some chemistry in the kitchen because baking is ultimately chemistry with food, isn’t it? And nothing feels better than to share the goodies with friends and family.

Meet Suhwa Hwang, our Creative Director of Design.

Su is originally from Changwon, South Korea, a city known for its beautiful beaches, gardens and plazas. The arts have played an important role in Su’s life. She grew up attending many after-school programs for art and piano. At 14, her passion for photography was sparked with the gift of her first Nikon camera.

In 2014, Su graduated with a BFA in Communication Design from Hongik University in Seoul. During her studies, she participated in a skills-exchange program in the Philippines. In exchange for her web design work, she was able to improve her English language skills — and sip on San Miguels in the sun.

Su has worked as an in-house designer in the beauty and tech industries, specializing in web design and branding. While Seoul and Tokyo offered experiences to last a lifetime, she moved to the US in 2019. Su joined the Lyda Fire team as a Creative Director of Design in 2021. She lives with her husband Glenn and their lovely dog, Bo, in Austin, Texas. Su loves crocheting, playing board games with friends, and writing blog posts about her everyday life in Korean.

Meet Allison Hohimer, our Creative Director of Design.

Born in the piney woods of deep east Texas and raised in the hill country outside of Austin, Texas, Allison is in love with the immobilizing Texas heat, hand-painted signs that are faded from age, and the violet hues that show up in the Austin sunsets.

Allison graduated from St. Edward's University with a B.A. in Graphic Design. Her creative journey started at an early age when her folks enrolled Allison and her sister into art classes to boost their creativity. Allison loves working with clay, shooting photographs and designing masterful presentations.

Allison loves venturing outside Austin for a swim at Barton Springs. A true Texan, Allison finds delight in her yellow roses. Her weekends are complete when she spends time with her family or hikes with her fiancé, John, and their cats Nugget and Bean.

Meet Sofía Argiró, our Creative Director of Design.

Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Sofía has a love for big cities and adventures. A creator at heart, Sofía began taking art and guitar lessons at the young age of 7. Since then, Sofía developed a passion for drawing and design.

Always eager to learn more and challenge herself, Sofía worked on multiple projects while finishing up her Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design at Facultad de Arquitectura, Diseño y Urbanismo. As a trilingual speaker, she freelanced on projects aroudn the world, fueling her thirst for innovative opportunities.

In her downtime, Sofía loves to spend time with family, especially her nieces and nephews. However, the weekends are exclusively reserved for 'asados' Argentinian social barbecues with friends.

Meet Karli Francis, our Director of Client Relations & Project Strategy.

Born on an island near Annapolis, Maryland, Karli was raised on the water. She always had a keen interest in meeting new people and finding new experiences, which eventually led her to Episcopal High School, a boarding school located in Virginia.

Once she graduated high school, she entered the University of Georgia. Throughout her time at school, Karli seized every leadership opportunity she could find, as she became truly passionate about understanding people and what made them tick. Ultimately, she turned this passion toward helping people and businesses succeed. Karli graduated with a degree in Marketing from Terry College of Business with a minor in Spanish and a certificate in Legal Studies.

As a highly organized and driven worker, Karli understands the value of a challenge as an opportunity and continues to seek out new experiences. She loves traveling and exploring the world with her fiancé, Will, and her labradoodle, Gibson.
