We often hear of people doing amazing things...but when you hear the story of Captain Bill Pinkney you'll be blown away! I had the pleasure and honor of becoming one of Captain Pinkney's many friends. I had the opportunity to sail with him multiple times in the Abaco Islands and in the British Virgin Islands. We traveled together to speaking engagements, boat shows, car shows and award programs. But my dearest memories are of us cruising in my little Karmann Ghia with the top down, him spending the night at my house, and the two of us sitting on my patio deck talking as he shared his story of the challenges he faced and overcame, and the good times he had during his historic solo sail around the world. Captain Bill was a world renown sailor and had received many, many awards and acknowledgements, but to me...he was my buddy, my friend, my hero! I have met and worked with many people with great accomplishments, but not one has impressed and inspired me as much as Captain Bill Pinkney.
