The AJC Peachtree Road Race is the world's largest 10K, held annually on July 4th in Atlanta, GA. From just 110 finishers completing the first race in 1970, the AJC Peachtree Road Race now welcomes 60,000 runners and walkers and hundreds of thousands of spectators to enjoy Independence Day in Atlanta.
While running the AJC Peachtree Road Race, you never know what local celebrities are running next to you at any moment.
Taylor Scott and Kevin Avery, the longest-running morning radio team in Atlanta for 104.7/The Fish, are two of those runners. Since 2002, they've been running the Peachtree not to break any records, but for the camaraderie it brings. Both will join us this July 4th.

In the meantime, if you registered as a non-Atlanta Track Club member and would like to become a member and receive an earlier wave assignment in A-M, you have until June 15 to sign up and receive this perk.
Here's how it works 👇
1️⃣ Step one: If you're already registered for the race but want the membership benefits, sign up to become an Atlanta Track Club member. Make sure to use your same name and email you used for your race registration when signing up for membership.
2️⃣ Step two: Enjoy the members-only hour of the Peachtree Health & Fitness Expo presented by Publix, where you can enjoy the Expo one hour earlier than the general public (9-10am)!

In 1978, 7-year-old Dow Kirkpatrick asked his father, Kip, if they could run the AJC Peachtree Road Race, and dad couldn’t think of a reason to say no. Flash forward to 2024, Dow, Kip, and the President & CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber Katie Kirkpatrick will toe the start line again.
The Kirkpatrick family tradition now spans three generations. Katie joined in on the tradition in 1996 when she was dating Dow, and, now both married with children, they spend their 3rd and 4th of July in Piedmont Park either at the Microsoft Peachtree Junior or AJC Peachtree Road Race finish line.
In her role as Chamber President & CEO, Katie constantly advocates for the race by ensuring we don't forget the tradition of the Peachtree as a selling point for Atlanta. Kilometer Kids, Atlanta Track Club’s free youth running program that teaches thousands of kids the value of health and fitness, wouldn’t be the program it is today without the support of our Peachtree With a Purpose: Kilometer Kids Charity Wave runners like Lori and Tony Brocato.
“Kilometer Kids is a great program for both of us. We both grew up in a time where running was seen as a punishment and if you were late to practice or messed up, you were told to go run laps. So, to have kids brought up already loving running, I think that’s such a great thing to indoctrinate them early on in their lives… All you have to do is have a pair of shoes,” - Lori Brocato.

Meet the People of Peachtree 🤝 Doug Shipman, Atlanta City Council President, will run his fifth consecutive AJC Peachtree Road Race this Fourth of July.
This year’s race will be a celebration for Shipman and all the challenges he faced through his running journey, including surgeries for a torn ACL back in 2003 and a ruptured Achilles in 2010. He started taking his running journey more seriously in 2020 and expects to run his fifth marathon later this month.

Once again, everyone exceeded our expectations. And it’s only day one. Thank you to all of the signees who congratulated Bill Thorn today!
