Douglas County, GA — A former Douglas County high school teacher and track and field coach has pleaded guilty to abusing a student, officials announced this week.

On Monday, Kerry Hood, 48, entered a guilty plea to three counts of first-degree improper s*xual contact by an employee or agent. He was sentenced to 25 years, with 12 years to be served in prison and the remaining time on probation, according to court records.

Hood, formerly employed at Lithia Springs High School, surrendered to deputies in May 2024 after a student athlete reported months of abuse. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that incidents occurred both on school grounds and in other states. Following his arrest, the Douglas County School System terminated Hood’s employment.

As part of his guilty plea, Hood is required to register as a s*x offender. He is also prohibited from contacting the victim and from working in any capacity involving authority over minors.

Authorities emphasized that the outcome reflects their commitment to protecting students and holding offenders accountable.

Keke Wyatt’s 23-year-old son, Rahjah Ke’ Morton, is calling out his mother, accusing the R&B singer of using his past cancer diagnosis for “personal gain” and “attention.”

Rahjah, who proudly identifies with the LGBTQ community and described it as the “Alphabet mafia,” claims that while Wyatt has portrayed herself as supportive in public, her actions behind closed doors tell a different story.

On Friday (Sept. 5), Rahjah joined the “put a finger down” TikTok challenge and shared a video on Instagram with a deeply personal prompt:
“Put a finger down if you were diagnosed with cancer as a teenager and your parent publicly shared your diagnosis for personal gain and attention, but privately told you that your cancer was karma for being part of the Alphabet mafia, and that if they knew you would turn out this way, they would have kept their money.”

Southwest Airlines faces over $2.3 million in fines in Arizona after an administrative law judge upheld penalties related to allegations that Phoenix Sky Harbor workers were disciplined for using their earned paid sick leave. According to the state’s labor department, mechanics were issued warning letters upon reaching their 10th sick day within a 12-month period, in violation of Arizona’s voter-approved Fair Wages and Healthy Families Act.

Southwest argues the ruling infringes on due process, noting that no employees lost pay or jobs, and the airline intends to appeal. An attorney representing several workers told ABC15 that the fines are currently accumulating at roughly $18,000 per week while the dispute continues.
