Voiceover Certification Program
Begins August 17, 2021
3 course cycle: Voiceover Fundamentals with Vince Bailey;
Voiceover Intermediate with Kozmo Miller; Voiceover Production Fundamentals with Kozmo Miller

Voiceover Fundamentals, Vince Bailey $799
August 17-October 5, 2021; Tuesdays, 6-9:45pm,
onsite FDMC
Understanding the voiceover business is more than reading aloud. This course, through weekly recording of "real" commercials, will introduce students to proper vocal delivery and improved fluency. Students will focus on effective microphone techniques and on selection of the right tool (microphone) for the job. Equally important, students will discover how to promote their talents, to find jobs, and to negotiate fees.

Voiceover Intermediate, Kozmo Miller $799
October 16-December 12, 2021; Saturdays,
10am-1:45pm, online
Building on the foundation of Voiceover Fundamentals, this intermediate course will focus on the seven attitudes of voiceover delivery, increasing recording time to develop a deeper understanding of the various genres of voice over and investigate the strategies for breaking into those particular genres. Discussions and exercises will emphasize proper etiquette for soliciting agents and private clients, audition prep, and copy analysis. Students will also develop their own marketing plans and branding packages: developing a rate sheet, building a website (logo, theme colors, and slogans), and shopping for gear in order to prepare for the competitive voiceover market.

Voiceover Production Fundamentals, Kozmo Miller $699
January15-February 26, 2022; Saturday 10am-1:30pm, online
Voice recording involves more than simply capturing sound. Mic selection and placement, capture software, equalization and sweetening, background noise reduction, and proper ambience all assist in creating an “attention grabbing” voiceover recording. Using subscription-based software and freeware, students will delve more deeply into the artistry of vocal recording. This course naturally feeds into skills already developed by Voiceover Fundamentals and Intermediate Voiceover students. However, film editors and videographers who use voiceover, off-stage voices, wild-line recordings, and/or ADR will gain tips and techniques that aid their productions as well.
