Tonight at 7:30PM ET on IG Live meet filmmaker Nuria Dixon, as she discusses her film Ethan Art Venture

@ethan_art_venture_shortfilm

🍿🍿🍿

Ethan’s Art-Venture is a short film about an autistic, illustrator who on his 9th birthday, is given a gift that allows him access to a powerful, imaginative, inner realm: a completely animated world. Every year, Ethan represents the school at the National Art Conference. However, this year there is a new, skillful artist competing who Ethan sees as a threat to his title as “best artist.” With determination to prove his artistic abilities, he is armed with only his trusty pencil to help him reclaim his prize.

Tonight at 7:00PM ET meet filmmaker Akilah “AK” Walker to discuss her film 🎞 Ivar Tunnel: Shook Ones

@akthewayy

🍿🍿🍿

‘Ivar Tunnel: Shook Ones' is a darkly comedic social thriller that glimpses into the psyche and isolation of a black woman.
Leigh Jones has moved into a new neighborhood in Hollywood, just beyond the Ivar Tunnel. Since moving, Leigh is met with icy glares and chilling shrieks from her neighbors. Simultaneously, Leigh is bombarded with notifications from the ‘Neighorlie’ app about the insidious happenings in Holly-hood.
One trending post about a homeless white woman shakes something alive in Leigh: “Please be kind to the newly unhoused woman in Ivar Tunnel with dog”. To Leigh’s chagrin, the post is flooded with comments in support of the “Unhoused Woman” from her “well-meaning” neighbors.
Leigh takes counsel from her friend Nicole, who reminds Leigh that she “is the boogeyman” and that her neighbors are “Shook Ones”. That reminder, along with liquid courage drives Leigh back to the Ivar Tunnel, where she attempts to take matters into her own hands.

Hello, my name is Booker Edwards, I am a Professor of Practice in the Creative Media Industries Institute at Georgia State University and we are currently looking to hire a Professor of Practice in Virtual Production/Visual Effects to start in the Fall 22 semester. The position description and how to apply are below. PROFESSOR OF PRACTICE in VIRTUAL PRODUCTION/VISUAL EFFECTS The Creative Media Industries Institute (CMII) at Georgia State University in Atlanta invites applications for a Professor of Practice in Virtual Production and Visual Effects to start in August 2022. We seek an individual with a thorough understanding and record of achievement in virtual production, broadly defined (e.g., experience in emerging technology pipelines, potentially including a close working knowledge of software specific to virtual production pipelines in augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), LED technology, motion and volumetric capture, visual effects, game engine VFX, previsualization, and animation). QUALIFICATIONS: Position requires a minimum of 10 years of broader industry experience with at least 5 years of that to be specifically in virtual production. Other advanced academic credentials are not required, given industry experience, though we welcome candidates who hold advanced degrees in a creative or media field. Applicants must therefore have a thorough understanding of the creative and production pipeline in their sector of experience. For example, a candidate able to problem-solve where gaming platforms (e.g., Unreal and Unity) must be integrated with VFX and LED screen technologies, would receive preference. DUTIES: The main duties include (1) a priority on working with colleagues to attract industrial collaborations and revenue-generating work to the Institute; (2) teaching in area of experience. Because of the expectation that Professors of Practice will remain engaged with content creation industries, CMII requires them to engage in commercially viable projects that include student participation, projects managed by the Institute Executive Director. Other potential work might include the supervision of student led projects, industry collaborations connected to the business of production and production pipelines, and active involvement in ongoing CMII administrative work. Preference will be given to candidates who have classroom or corporate training teaching experience and a demonstrated passion for working with undergraduate and graduate students with technology interests. Other potential work might include the supervision of student led projects, industry collaborations connected to the business of production and production pipelines, and active involvement in ongoing CMII administrative work. Candidates with a high degree of familiarity with some of the leading content creation software packages and production finance will be preferred. Professors of Practice at Georgia State University connect nonprofit or corporate practitioners and accomplished executives to the more traditional academic work of a Research 1 university, including classroom instruction. Professors of Practice hired through the mechanism of a national search may be annually renewed in perpetuity given effective performance and are eligible for annual merit pay raises as made available by the Georgia Assembly and the university. This configuration enables CMII to attract exceptionally strong teachers and administrators who often bring extensive professional experience in the media and content creation industries, and to mentor new colleagues into classroom and student mentoring excellence. CMII operates an advanced technology content creation center and offers undergraduate bachelor (BA/BS) degree programs in Game Design & Development and a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) in Media Entrepreneurship, as well as an MFA concentration in Virtual Production launching in Fall 2022. CMII employs research and teaching faculty, as well as industry-experienced Professors of Practice. CMII is an interdisciplinary unit in the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of the Arts, created to develop 21st century storytellers prepared for work in the media and arts industries, to mentor students interested in entrepreneurship, and to develop research-connected industry partnerships. As you are required to stay active in the industry, all Professors of Practice are required to engage in commercially viable projects that include student participation upon the direction of the Executive Director. Georgia State University (est 1913), an enterprising R-1 university, is located in downtown Atlanta, a metropolitan area that serves as one of the nation’s film and media communication hubs, and is home to the state capitol, The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, the Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History, The Carter Center, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, CNN, and the CDC. The university is proud to enroll and graduate one of the most diverse student bodies in the nation. CMII is committed to serving this student body and advancing innovative research by building a diverse faculty. Full time employees enjoy benefits such as: retirement savings plans with matching funds, health insurance options (a variety of medical, dental, and vision plans), life insurance and other insurance options, as well as savings accounts (health; flexible; transportation), and an EAP. Georgia State University is an equal opportunity employer. It continues to be the policy of the University to implement affirmative action and equal opportunity for all employees, students, contractors, consultants and applicants for employment or admission without regard to race, color, religion, creed, national origin, s*x, age, gender, transgender status, pregnancy, s*xual orientation, genetic information, protected veteran status, or disability. The university has an active Diversity Equity & Inclusion office with programs that span the university. To apply, send a letter of application (The application letter should specifically detail the ways in which professional experiences have qualified the candidate to lead industry collaborative student-connected programs) , professional resume or academic vitae, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and three letters of recommendation to Professor of Practice Search/MEDIA PRODUCING, Creative Media Industries Institute, P.O. Box 5060, Georgia State University, Atlanta, Ga., 30302-5060, or email materials to [email protected]. Position open until filled, with first review of files starting on April 1, 2022. An offer of employment will be conditional upon background verification. Georgia State University is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate against applicants due to race, ethnicity, gender, veterans status, or on the basis of disability or any other federal, state, or local protected class.
