Hello, my name is Kichecko. My book “Holding on to Hope” drops in July. Please read an editorial of my book. My website will be up shortly.
Editorial for Kichecko
Looking at Kichecko’s life, now versus 2009, there is a clear difference. If someone asked, what is one word that would best describe her, “Overcomer”, would be it hands down.
After completing 3 degrees, including a Masters in Sports and Clinical Psychology. Kichecko found love after being introduced to what she thought was a wonderful man, who was completing his residency as a Medical Doctor of Surgery.
Through an introduction by her cousin, they entered a beautiful courtship, eventually falling in love and later marrying. They began a life that she thought would be her “happily ever after.”
Her goals in life quickly changed from being a career driven woman on the go, to becoming a wonderful mother to her son, and the wife that most men only dreamed of.
Blissful, was an understatement of the early stages of her marriage. She was supportive in every aspect of his career. She willingly relinquished her career in order to support his upward climb in the medical field. On the outside, everything seemed perfect. As we all know, where there is sunshine, there is surely a storm on the horizon.
Her first battle was with breast cancer. After living a somewhat healthy life she was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, which took its toll on her. Once a beautiful model, with a promising career, she now faced a life-threatening issue. During this period, her husband had completed his residency and his fellowship training in kidney and liver transplant specialist, and to date he is General Surgeon.
Although he was a Medical Doctor, the high demands of his position caused him to be absent from the home sometimes for several days. So, after having many caregivers in their home, she was sent to California where her family resided. What she thought would be a mini vacation and family bonding, where he would later join her turned out to be nothing more than abandonment.
To date, Kichecko cannot phantom why her husband had a change of heart. She has no answers as to why he tried abandoning her, divorcing her, and leaving her for dead fighting not only for her life, but also for visitation and custody of her son. What she believed was an unfailing love became his mission to not only divorce her, but to take her child and leave her virtually penniless.
How could a man she had been married to for 15 years turn into someone she no longer recognized virtually overnight? Feeling powerless, Kichecko turned to God and kept her faith. Thus, birthing the story “Holding On To Hope”, which is about overcoming cancer, financial difficulties, and gut-wrenching custody battles; realizing that keeping faith even through the darkest hours will lead to finding true love of oneself and that could never be misunderstood, misguided, or removed.
