Story Behind The Music Podcast

If you were to ask yourself, what genre of music gets the least attention but has made the biggest impact, what would you say? Well for me it’s simple, R&B and Soul music and that’s why I started doing this podcast. As a recording artist myself, every time I sung, played and performed those influences of Earth, Wind & Fire, Prince, Cameo, Michael Jackson came shining through.

Back in 2012 I had a little time on my hands and I was also frustrated with the decline of real R&B in the mainstream landscape, so I decided to do something about it and remind people about the art form we’ve left behind. And that’s how Story Behind The Music was born. Along with my partner DJ Suzy Chase, I wanted to talk to the great artists, musicians, singers, producers even executives that shaped some of the pivotal decades in music history the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. The goal was to dig deep and talk about the music and the music only! No tabloid ambushes because for me the only thing that mattered were things like, “how did you come up with the title of that song”, “what inspired that horn line” or “how many takes did it take for Whitney to sing I will always love you?”

The reboot of SBTM will proves to be just as informative, thought provoking and entertaining as it ever and I promise to give you the best names with the best stories. Including names that are not household names but had that one hit wonder that still means everything to you.
