Pastor Jamal Bryant wasn’t afraid to speak directly on the pitfalls of the church in the past with reaching out to those who have been incarcerated. Including referencing the lack of addressing those incarcerated in the past including Malcolm X, who was then known as Malcolm Little, a son of a preacher.
.
.
In his first year on the job as senior pastor at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, the church has begun a bailout program as well as started working in criminal justice issues including granting bail for 1,000 non-violent offenders to be released home to their families.
.
.
This is on top of an overall change in direction for the church as the pastor has put the church in the needs of reform of social injustices.
.
.
For the full interview with pastor Bryant, please check out the full interview in the link in bio or by searching for The Neighborhood Watch here or on YouTube.

By King Williams  A few weeks back I had one of my usually spirited debates on Twitter, in this case it was about “West Midtown.” The debate had me then going to ask the question towards my other social media channels. Is 'West Midtown' A) a real place and B) have you heard of it? The re...

Nipsey Hussle, new developers Ryan Gravel, Donray Von and transforming The Mall West End

The latest SaportaReport column from The Atlanta Way: A Documentary on Gentrification director King Williams looks at the difference between 'placemaking' and 'place keeping'.

Looking at the efforts of Nipsey Hussle's 'place keeping' and interview with Atlanta Beltline creator Ryan Gravel and his Atlanta native business partner Donray Von as they are purchasing The Mall West End.

By King Williams “When we speak of place-making, we assume that the place being made was devoid of life, culture and context. Place-making indicates that nothing exists. It is inherently colonialist. Place-keeping uplifts an area’s culture, provides resources and enriches.” - Miranda Kyle, Atl...

Before you go vote today make sure you check out this breakdown on the Georgia Amendments from Wake Up Atlanta

The average ballot question in 2017 required TWENTY YEARS of formal education to comprehend.

(That means it's written for someone who's finished med school or gotten two master’s degrees.)

Anyway, we collectively killed 10,000 brain cells and lost 40 hours of sleep trying our best to understand, research, and translate the FIVE constitutional amendments and TWO referenda on the November 6 ballot for those of you who, like us, aren't doctors (apologies to our Asian parents).

YOU’RE WELCOME, Y'ALL. And tag a sleepy friend.

Big ups to Ballotpedia and lots and lots and lots of Vietnamese coffee.
