Join Tamika Newhouse and PowerToFly as we amplify and inspire #BlackCreatives.

Recent studies have shown that 76% of published authors are white and only 5% of authors identify as Black. That's why Tamika Newhouse, founder of #AAMBC Inc., a creative agency for Black Writers, is so passionate about her work. Tamika's mission consists of providing black creatives the education, support, and visibility needed within the black writing community. Tamika, who Adweek called “The Shonda Rhimes of Black Publishing”, overcame the projected stigma that teen moms can't have it all, by working in the radio and literary industries to soon create Delphine Publications by the age of twenty. She has created a publishing empire that has housed more than thirty writers at a single time. Releasing nearly three hundred titles as a producer and writer, she assists others in chasing their literary dreams as well, producing films, curating large events and festivals, as well as publishing books. Tamika is joined in this conversation by published author and PowerToFly team member Rhys Tirado.

Did you know, November 14th is proclaimed Youth Readers Day; which was founded by Pizza Hut and The Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. Encouraging our youth is imperative and we can make a change simply by opening up the chain of what best interests them.

Grab your child, mentee, or student and ensure you check off the boxes on their readers’ checklist:

Allow children to pick out books about topics that interest them. Set reading goals with them. Share with them what your favorite books were when you were young. Discuss books that you are reading with them and ask them to share about what they are reading. Create that dialogue and inspire the youth to grow and become their very best!

A decade in the making.........The decade started off with me quitting my job as a teacher and dropping out of school as my company Delphine Publications hit the milestone of grossing over six figures. It would be an accomplishment that spearheaded so many opportunities for me. I also started this decade as a wife and eventually experienced love & passion in ways I would had never imagined. I also experienced a lot of pain and grief this decade to only be able to come out wiser & ready to take my next set of risks head on. That could be a risk in business or with love. Either way when the next decade ends I’ll be 43.......and there’s no slowing down from here. Excited about the history I’ll make in the 20s. #GoMika #MyThoughtsOutLoud
Wooow I love it but I need part two please
