Nutrition, iron, and maternal + infant health.

Iron deficiency is one of the most common—and preventable—nutritional challenges during pregnancy and early childhood. Yet it’s still not discussed enough outside of clinical settings.

Iron-rich foods support:
• Healthy pregnancies
• Infant brain development
• Energy, immunity, and recovery for mothers
This isn’t just about food.
It’s about access to information, culturally relevant education, and trusted community partnerships that help families make informed choices.
We’re grateful to work alongside organizations like Refugee Women's Network and to partner with Georgia Health Initiative , Emory Global Health Institute , Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University, and the Multicultural Pediatric Nutrition Task Force.

These collaborations help ensure nutrition education reaches families in ways that are accessible, respectful, and rooted in community needs.
Storytelling is a public health tool. When maternal and infant nutrition is communicated clearly and thoughtfully, awareness turns into prevention—and prevention saves lives.

I just came across a video we filmed a few years ago—and our team had the incredible honor of recording Ms. Xernona Clayton.
At 90 years old, she sat down with us and shared her story with warmth, wit, and power. From her friendship with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to her decades of activism and impact, every moment of that conversation was a gift.

This month, we’re honored to be capturing the work of Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia (HMHBGA) as they shine a light on a critical issue: blood pressure and maternal health.

Too many birthing people face silent, preventable risks due to undiagnosed or unmanaged blood pressure—especially in postpartum weeks. HMHBGA is taking the lead on this issue with powerful education, resources, and outreach across Georgia.

Hybrid events offer a unique platform to reach and engage a broader audience on critical, often-overlooked topics, like Black maternal mental health. This format allows attendees from anywhere to participate, making it easier to discuss important issues like the challenges Black women face in recognizing and addressing postpartum mental health conditions and the profound impact of loss on mental well-being.

By combining in-person and virtual elements, hybrid events create accessible, inclusive spaces where experts can share insights, provide support, and offer resources tailored to empower Black mothers in navigating their mental health journey.
