Why do I like hydrangeas?? 👇
As a shrub in the garden, I look forward to seeing the brilliant colors of flowers and all the different varieties in the spring, not to mention the cut flowers.
Then as the flowers age through the summer to fall I love all the new tones the blooms take on. The antique greens with purples and blues, just add another aspect of beauty to the garden.
And last but not least, as they dry they can add interest to a wide variety of seasonal decor.
Hydrangeas provide floral treasures to enjoy in the garden and indoors throughout the year!! 💙🩵💚

Who knew I’d be seeing when I was in Colombia!! It’s a small world!! Especially in the world of flowers!!
This is THE Princess Holly’s Hope, a rose named after Holly!! If you know Holly you know there’s a wonderful story behind the naming of this rose. I don’t want to mess it up, but wanted you to see it.
It was great to see everyone from at the special breakfast honoring the 20 years of beautiful roses!! There is so much that goes into growing them. Even though we enjoy these garden roses now, the road was very bumpy at first. I loved hearing and seeing all the history.

We put so much energy into growing, designing, and caring for flowers—but how often do we think about caring for ourselves?
Clippers, knives, buckets, and even our phones can help us get through the day, but none of them will keep us farming or designing for the long run. The truth is, your most important tool isn’t in your toolbox—it’s YOU. Taking care of your body means you can keep doing the work you love for years to come.
This week on The Flower Podcast, I’m joined by Madeline Hooper, co-creator of GardenFit , for a conversation about movement, posture, and the small shifts that make a big difference in taking care of ourselves.

I've been in the floral industry for over 25 years. Although most of that time has been spent in sales for a wholesale company, I share the same passion for flowers as you.
My love for flowers began as a child walking in the footsteps of my grandmother. What started as helping in the vegetable garden grew to expand from the pink petunias to the splendid blossom of viburnum on the family farm. My other grandfather had a love for trees and enjoyed collecting incredible specimens of ginkos and redwoods, not something often seen in Northwest Ohio.
My interest in flowers only grew from there. Throughout childhood, my family let me dabble in the home landscape planting seeds, shrubs, and most of all experimenting with flowers. YES! I was that guy, not with trophies on my wall, but with grow lights and plants in my bedroom.
My floral journey eventually led to a degree in horticulture. Just before graduating, I couldn't decide on a field to pursue,I LIKED THEM ALL. Dr. Alan Armitage, my then advisor at University of Georgia, received a phone call from a floral wholesaler and described the kind of person they were looking for to join the company....
So now, years later, I'm still involved in the floral industry.
As I approach my 25th anniversary at Cut Flower Wholesale, I decided to start a podcast to share my unbelievable journey with phenomenal friends, remarkable talent, and breathtaking flowers. My hope and dream for The Flower Podcast is to create a meeting place to chat with guests from all areas of the floral industry as they share their personal insight to flowers, business, and the future of flowers. I believe their love for flowers and design will be contagious!
Some things about our industry have changed in 25 years, but the beauty of a blossom will always be. I am thankful you have joined our floral family in this remarkable journey.
