Maaaaan!! I’m 35!! I can’t believe it. 🙌🏾This number is tricky. Like I know it’s not old because I was just five years from 30, but I’m also five years from 40! So I’m like aww damn, I’m getting old... Then I start questioning damn am I where I’m supposed to be in life. Have I made any real progress, had any real achievements. Shiiiiit I don’t have a wife, no kids. Quarantine a hella drug, have you all in your head. But I’m good, this is exactly where God wants me to be. And with all the craziness happening this year, I’m grateful, and blessed. I have a great core of family and friends who are supportive and love me. Honestly, that’s what is important during these times. So yeah 35 is going to be a great year, 2020 still the year!

My main man Charley!!!! It’s his bday!!! When I first got him, I didn’t know how valuable he would be in my life. He came at point, where I really needed a companion. I can’t count the number of times that I had an ‘Ah Ha, I got it’ moment, from taking Charley for a walk. I gotta thank him in an acceptance speech one day. This my little man for real! But yeah my boy five, 35 in dog years. We’ll be the same age in a couple of weeks. I know he might try to get beside himself now, but “I will test that butt when you cut outta line... I try to be a tough dad, but you be making me laugh.” Aight... Ya’ll get the point.

I’ve been trying to write a post about my family, since last year when my grandpa died. The words to describe them just wouldn’t come. I think I have the words now.
So My family exudes love. Very welcoming. They have this incredible ability to make complete strangers feel like family within minutes. Everybody who on the trip wasn’t a cousin to me, became one, even the chef and his crew.
My family always greets with a hug or kiss every time they see you. They say one must get at least four hugs a day. You’ll get that and more before breakfast.
There’s no family beef. You won’t ever hear “I ain’t going if such and such gon be there.” One day my aunt told me, “People who ain’t family wanna come on these trips with us because we don’t fight. Now we’ll talk some s**t, but that’s even in love.” She was right, no arguments. I was covered with laughter and love the entire trip.

So when the bus came to take my family to the airport, I couldn’t escape that lump in my throat and choked up goodbyes. I Just said Imma go cry in the Villa. Lol. It was already hard to leave Tobago, then you add my family in the mix. Gut wrenching. So yeah probably one of the best trips I’ve ever had. It was a great way to end my year and start my new year. Thank you fam, for showing and giving me love, I needed it.

I’m in a tug of war of thoughts and talents. Trying to fix the weight of the imbalance. I realized I can’t expect to prosper without facing a challenge. So I detoured from confusing thoughts that became roadblocks to my life. Now I pace my thoughts and race toward the dream of my life.

Some lines I wrote from a poem ten years ago. Seem like they still hold weight. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Happy Birthday Big Bro! Damn we getting up there!

When I was young, I remember I had to love everything you loved. From drawing cartoon characters, playing sports like you, eating Frosted Flakes with bananas, to eating BBQ sauce with fries like you . If you loved it, I loved it. Now as we’re older, And I see The way you love my SL and the kids. I want to love like you. So thank you for not only being a BIG brother to me but a great example of a husband and father. Love you Champ, enjoy your day and be blessed with many more.

The first time I wore this hoody to go out with I got put in handcuffs. Cops said I fit the description of someone who just robbed a lady. Many thoughts went through my head while I’m in handcuffs. “Stay calm, don’t get loud, don’t get shot. Damn everybody at this spot see me in handcuffs. I Fit the description? Maaaan! How? I know nobody has this hoody.” Then as more time passed, I thought what if this lady mistakenly says yeah I am the one. Then how will I react once I get apprehended and would that reaction cause me to get shot. I Say all that to say, I went back to that moment when took this picture.

Maaaaan! My mom would get so annoyed with how much I would mumble as a teenager. She would be like, “Huh?! What you say?!” Boy open ya mouth. Nobody can hear you.” Then she would start mocking me. She would do this muffled, Migo’d, zombie voice. Out of nowhere, my Pops would join in. Before you know it they got a 🔥diss track about me, called Mumbles. 🤦🏾‍♂️. That’s enough to make you stop mumbling.

Now I still mumble “TIL THIS DAY” but I’ve become more conscious of it. I figured out I only mumble when I’m unsure of myself, so I just need to be sure of myself. Toasts and spoken word helped out a lot, because the preparation that goes behind it. My Moms and Pops whole attitude change once I get behind a 🎤 now. “That’s my boy! Oh I Heard that! Tell em again son!

I should have been posted something about finishing the script with my Brother , but it really hit me today. First off this was the most challenging piece of work I had to work on. The content for one, the dialogue, the passion we had to present throughout the script. Then keeping up with the passion Kay has for this script (his idea that came to him from a dream). The time spent on this project, I developed a lot as a writer. From being brutally honest, but also championing me as well. Which was needed because I felt this project was too big for me to even write on. I had to pray plenty of times on putting words together for a scene. So now for this project to be completed after two years and some change, it was a great accomplishment. Glad we stayed resilient, fought through quarrels and brought your dream to life.
